Title: Should I use estrogel on its own?
Post by: Krista65 on June 06, 2020, 09:48:25 PM
Hi all,

I don't have any obvious Meno symptoms but when I turned 50 four years ago and started menopause, I've been depressed and anxious. My doctor did give me estrogel a few years ago but I never used it.  But now I'm thinking of going back and getting some more and giving it a whirl.

But do I use that on its own or should I also ask for progesterone?

Thankyou.

Hi if you've still got your womb then you will need progesterone too xx

Thanks Dotty. Yes, still have all my parts. When I was prescribed estrogel a few years ago, my doctor never mentioned progresterone. As far as she knows I used the gel on its own.

Not good is it.

Hi Krista65,
Do you have a mirena coil fitted? if so then that provides progesterone & therefore you will only need estrogen.
Cazikins.

Hi Kazikins, no, I mean tablets. The progesterone Dr Stubbs recommends. I've read they can help with depression combined with oestrogen. I've also been naughty and have some Testogel here. I'm thinking of replicating Stubbs's recommendations.

Get thyself off to a Menopause Clinic?  We shouldn't put every symptom down to menopause.
