Hi everyone,
I am 67 years old and up until a year ago I thought I had finished with hormonal problems, how wrong was I . I suddenly developed VA and eventually was started on vagifem, well 3 months later things below have really improved but only by taking the vagifem every night ( approved by GP). 5 days ago I started having migraines and as I have all through my adult life suffered with hormonal migraines, I am guessing its the vagifem that has built up too much. I thought I would cut the dose down to just twice a week to see what happens. I really don't want the migraines again they are getting me down, but also don't want the VA soreness!!!!! I was just wondering if anyone has had the same problems and has any advice. Thankyou so much xx

Corhale, Vagifem is not absorbed systemically, being a local treatment and a minute dose of estradiol, even if used nightly. Once the vaginal tissues have plumped up there is no systemic absorption so it's probably coincidence. Not sure what you mean by building up?

Hi Corhale,
the leaflet for vagifem is the leaflet for HRT, they just didn't change it. The dosage is sooo small the same as 1 of 2 HRT tablets a year, so it is highly unlikely to be the vagifem.

It won't be the Vagifem causing the migraines, my meno specialist said even every dadu use was only equivalent to two systemic HRT tablets a year.

Hi Corhale......whilst i have never suffered with migraine Vagifem gave me headaches.....i was switched to Ovestin which i found better for me....however i do still get a mild headache the day after i dose....my GP said it may just be that i am sensitive to the medication and get a spike ( her word)......i am a very slight build and i guess one size does not necessarily fit all.....i would go back and have a chat with your health professional.....hope you get sorted soon....quite a mine field getting the regime right 😘

hi ladies
i totally disagree because if vagifem isn't obsorbed systemically then why have women found it helps them sleep , causes hair shedding
ovestin is also obsorbed aswell to some degree systemically
i say it varies women to women
aswell as i don't believe they would have but a leaflet in for systemic hrt when it is vagifem product the leaflet is for vagifem and the side effects are what potentially vagifem can cause
