Hi everyone,
Do you know anything about compound pharmacies, the ones that make bio-identical hormones? Do they charge an arm and a leg and do they only deal with private menopause clinics?
Do you know a menopause specialist who charges a reasonable fee? Some of the clinics charge ?395 for a 45mn consultation and if you have a blood test to check your hormone levels it's another ?315. This, of course, doesn't include the medication would could cost you approximately ?100 every 3 months and the follow ups.
If you have any info, please pass it on.
Thanks
Karine

KarineT, I have gone through all of this in my thread on the Alternative therapies section.
I only wanted tailor made progesterone because I was happy with the oestrogen and testosterone part of HRT. The initial consultation was ?300 and the actual progesterone costs ?1.00 per day. The yearly follow up is ?140 and I do this by phone. I took my own blood test results, transvaginal uterine scans, DEXA and breast scan results. I don't think they need the breast scan and DEXA results but I took them anyway.
They will not prescribe unless your womb lining is within the limit of 4mm if you are on a continuous combined regime. There is more flexibility for cyclical regimes.
There are quite a few of us on here who are using bespoke progesterone (a few are on combination oestrogen/progesterone lozenges) because so many women have dreadful problems with the conventional forms of progesterone. Sadly, not many members feel comfortable about coming forward and if you read my thread you will understand why.
