Title: Itchy Skin
Post by: Dougal on May 16, 2020, 07:14:50 PM
Hello everyone
I am 55 next month and peri-menopause. Last light period was 4 months ago.
Recently I have been suffering with hot flushes and very itchy skin - which results in pin pricks/ small blisters.
My doctor has prescribed a higher dose antihistamine. I have tried epaderm, Aveeno, cetraben creams. But nothing seems to work. It  is driving me crazy. I cannot take HRT due to historical thrombosis.
Does anyone suffer with similar symptoms or can anyone advise on treatment please.
Thank you

Hi Dougal

You could try Dermol 500. That's good. You can buy from any chemist.
it's antibacterial, and might help stop the itching.

Good luck. Let us know.

Does your gp think it's an allergic reaction? It sounds like it to me. I had similar pin picks when I had an allergic reaction to evorel hrt. If it is the key is finding what causes it (obviously!) and trying to avoid it. Have you used any new shampoo, soap, perfume etc recently? Or you could have developed an allergy to some type of food.
