Title: Estradiol tablets versus patches
Post by: Julie6919 on May 01, 2020, 12:33:10 PM
Please can anyone help me. I was on 2mg Estradiol tablet then my doctor changed me to Esterderm MX100 patch. Am I still getting the same about of oestrogen daily as I don't feel as good. My bones ache,my anxiety has rose it's head again and I've got headaches. My doctor says it's he same amount but I've just asked my pharmacy and she said it is equivalent to 1mg daily. Thanks

Hi the equivalent to a 2mg tablet would be a 50 patch.

So the patch you've been given is approximately double the strength you were on, which could be the reason for you not feeling so good. X

Hi Julie6919,

It's also possible that you're not absorbing the patches as well as we are all different. Maybe you should ask your docter if you could go back to tablets again if that suits you better.

Transdermal is safer than oral. I would try to find the right dose for you before going back to oral.

Thank you for all your replies. I am going to try a 75 patch and see if things change.
