Oh, and another holiday. :sunny: :clapping:
Assuming we can get travel insurance after the FCO lifts travel restrictions. I can see insurers still refusing any cover to do with Covid 2019.
Apart from that, I am not usually a hugger but I have had a really strong wish to hug someone ever since the restrictions were imposed (particularly a colleague who lost her Mum suddenly just before the lockdown started). The loss wasn't caused by Covid but was still very difficult. i have heard a similar story from another friend today.

Gosh I know, isn't it difficult. Social media is great but it can only go so far.

I too won't be joining crowds any time soon. Have decided to do most of our weekly shop in the village as it is quicker. For those higher-end items we will go to the supermarket if and when, not making specific journeys but when we go on a Friday as usual.
I want to buy British a lot more too. Hopefully once Brexit - remember those days ::) - more British caught fish/langousitnes etc. will be sold to UK shops and not to Spain.

You can buy some of that online! Also petshops are open ( eg pets at home)....
After lockdown I look forward mainly to seeing my children and other family who live at a distance is the main thing, and of course going on holiday, though it felt like a holiday today :)
Going to live festivals and gigs/events!
It will be interesting to see if consumer habits change permanently or whether after this is (eventually) all over, rampant materialism combined with globetrotting to far flung places, will resume with gusto as before. It would be nice to think that things could change permanently after long term lockdown as people have learnt new skills, ways of working and come to realise what are the really important things in life, as well as valuing people and skills who are among the least valued in society.
Going to our local pub!

I could buy bird food from our local garden centre but it's local of 15 miles away - they will deliver but the Police don't think it's an essential journey :-\
I can't understand why pets at home remained open: our nearest is a 30 mile round trip.
We tried to buy seeds on line - a 5 week waiting list :-\
I think that Life will resume to 'normal' as long as airlines get up and running. We had 2 planes and a a drone across here today >:(. I would like those UK orgnaisations/factories that have picked up the pieces and are now providing items that were previously sourced from China and other cheaply produced places to get the recognition they deserve.
-
Being able to drive to my favourite walks. Hugging my children, going on holiday.
Most of the things I want I can buy online, including plants.
Just getting out and about. Can't see it happening this year though as this virus isn't going away anytime soon. I will still be scared and probably avoiding people.
Yes walks right out in the countryside but by train for me not car. I could get to Epping Forest (only 3 stops on an overground train) but would feel guilty doing that at the moment. I wouldn't want to buy plants online. Had hoped to go to Crews Hill (near Enfield) ,where there are lots of garden shops all conveniently close together, but had to abandon that.
-
I buy directly from Nurseries by post and I believe that many have opened since Wed..
Most Garden Centres are shut unless they can deliver locally but there are weeks of queues for orders ::)

I order my seeds from Jacobi Jayne/Living with birds. It was a two day delivery time last week. Might be worth a try.

I'm going start my stockpile so I'm ready for next time - loo paper, baked beans, hand sanitiser :) I still haven't seen any hand sanitiser since this began.
-
I haven't seen any either, nor spaghetti.
-
Wish I could send you the spare one I have! I don't need it as I can't go out and hand washing with soap is more effective as you rinse everything away. And no I haven't been stock piling. I get sent complimentary ones with my monthly prescription for my trans anal system.
-
Going to the holiday cottage and trying to avoid ever returning to the house (I hated house and neighbourhood before this started!) and buying everything I need there to help their local economy. I always buy as much as I can there, and bring it back to the house so we're running low on supplies at the moment, but I'm limiting what I buy here to absolute essentials.
-
See my family.
It's obviously going to be in stages I cant see any festivals or big gigs, taking place this year. It's hard to see holiday parks or centres re opening for some time yet either. Ppl have been in isolation in their own communities. Anything that brings together huge numbers from all corners of the UK will surely be way down the list..?
-
I haven't seen any either, nor spaghetti.
Local Sainsbury's ok for pasta on Saturday. Bought lasagne for later in the week.
-
Pasta, toilet rolls & paracetamol are back in the shops near here. No hand gel or anti bac wipes yet though.
-
I've ordered some hand gel. Do a search for The hand wash shop.
-
:thankyou: Taz 8)
Paracetamol comes in the main from India - apparently they have said that we 'can have some more' ........

Pets need to eat too! I'm very grateful that the pet shop which stocks the only food my dog can eat is still open.
As for what I'm going to do after lockdown, #1 is get married! Either on our original date or as soon as it is legally possible after. #2 is try to build the business back up as quickly as possible. Also, seeing family & friends and going on some lovely long walks in our favourite local places.
-
Yay a wedding :)
-
:great:

A wedding how lovely.

it's sad but true re our older folks but I was listening to a scientist on the news and he was saying until we start mixing again we won't build up a resistance to it,which,we need to do
-
Resistance doesn't help when you're dead. I thought they'd given up on the herd immunity bull sh*t. With any luck BJs close shave will make him think differently.
-
So what will you plan ........ I had lots of bubble bath for C.mas but will need to restock ;)
-
But in building up resistance as a herd some of that herd will pay the price. I dont want my loved ones to be that price. Vulnerable and elderly will still have to shield or face the same risk they have all along and now we know just how deadly the second stage can be.
Did you see the Italian health minister on the news tonight. She said that it's impossible to imagine restaurants will open and there will be no concerts or cinemas. She said its impossible to imagine a return to normal life until there is a vaccine.
I know we have to get the country back to work first but a lot of ppl also rely on the leisure industry for a living and Our govt might not take the Italian view on pubs and restaurants etc and may reopen them sooner.
It worries me sick that my elderly and vulnerable loved ones will see it as o.k to go or take that chance and In that sense I dread the cafes and restaurants and pubs re opening.
Xx

Me too Tc. My Dad will be off to the pub in his village for a pint, the minute they open the door, i'm sure he will. It's not the beer he's missing, he misses having a natter with them all.

True stellajane. It must be so hard to for young vulnerable people too. So sad that he had just found a job he loved.too.
I hope his friends se keeping in touch with him.
Barnacle that's exactly it.
It's not been a good news day has it. Some realisations are sinking in and it's hard to swallow and to not feel depressed about it all. Let's all hope that day when they announce the vaccination.comes sooner than we might think
Stay safe xxxxx

Tell your dad I know how he feels! Missing our local so badly but not as much as I'm missing my son's! That will be my first 'outing' - off to their houses for the most wonderful of hugs.

I won't be able to travel to see my son in the USA until there is a vaccine. I'm asthmatic and told I'm vulnerable.
-
Juju. I read that they are trying to speed up the process for vaccine. You will get there. . And what a reunion it will be. Xx

It's tough isn't it?!. I do still see my Dad, as i do his shopping for him, but obviously don't go near him.
Ju Ju - Hopefully the vaccine won't take too long. I really do feel for you x
-
I'm going to add:
blueberry bushes in tubs to my garden centre list ;D
-
Oh I didn't dare say that, I don't believe in vaccinations anyway unless it's certain to KILL the virus completely, as in Smallpox :-\
-
I expect it will be the over seventies first. I'll see how that goes first. Don't hold your breath though, it will be months or possibly never.
-
Although it's the younger age groups that aren't showing anti-bodies at the same levels as oldies ;-)
DH wants to get back to his hobbies ....... at least fishing is solitary :D
-
That's allowed. We had a plumbing leak sort and were told it's regarded as essential.
-
Our friend's a plumber and has been working nearby for 5 days thus far, it began as a leaking radiator but they have decided to update their system so that it actually works. Works when they switch it on ::) rather than when it thinks it might.
We need a new shower head. I sent for a Victoria plumb catalogue in mid-Feb., supposed to arrive within 5 days but nope. I also have a yen for a conservatory at the back to catch early morning sunshine :whist: can U see my list going up 8)
-
I ordered a new bed just before this all started. It was due to be delivered in a week. Haven't heard a thing, so I doubt that I will hear for a while. Hope I haven't lost the money. It took me ages to save up.
-
R U able to track the order Ju Ju? Have U contacted the company to see where it might have landed?
-

Mine are flowering now - counting the flowers and wondering how many blueberries I'll get this summer!
NB: Make sure you get at least two that flower at the same time, as they need it for pollinating. If they flower at different times, you won't get any berries!
-
The blackbirds are partial to the berries on our plants ........... we used to pick them in the wild, because the bushes were grazed by sheep they were very low to the ground, very peaceful on a warm sunny day :-*
-
I have a blueberry bush, blackbird gets them all ;D
-
Easy Jet are going to keep the middle seat empty when they resume flights are lift-off of lockdown ;) don't all rush at once ;D
-
...whilst blowing bugs at you from the air conditioning...
-
Another reason not to fly ? ;D
Distancing is going to continue until a vaccine is found ........ yeah, right.
-
I'm in contact with my hairdresser through Facebook, so she has been warned I've had a little trim ;D
-
Define little trim TH ;D
-
Um, I have layered hair so I grab some on the top twist it and chop ;D front I wet comb and try and cut straight :o
So far it's ok, well I think it's ok, I know my hairdresser will laugh, but you know desperate times and all that.
I'm offering my services for a very large fee if anyone is interested, I'll put a chair outside the window, hosepipe to wet your fringe, I'll stick my hands out of the window with the kitchen scissors.... done ;D
-
;D on my way, you might as well practice on me first :D
I wish that I had contact with my stylist if only to find out how she is and I have books for her :-\
