I have been following a low carb diet for 5 years, following a borderline diabetes test, since then I have managed to keep my blood sugar levels hovering around normal or just into pre diabetes. I am quite strict, with the occasional indulgence, always savoury as I have lost any kind of sweet tooth.
I initially lost just under 3.5 stone or 48lbs to be exact, have gained a little, maybe 14lb or so over the last few years but appears to be stable.
I am struggling a bit during this lockdown, just want to eat crisps, chips and bread. ( I haven't)
Anyone else here eating low carb and got any lockdown treat ideas?

Morning!
Has your exercise regime altered much during lockdown?
Maybe your body is craving salt ........ not something the body should ever be low on as it can cause real problems.

Been doing more walking and restarted my running again. I think it is just a comfort food thing, as anxiety takes over. I am fighting it, it will do me no good to give in.
I was going to make a low carb cake, made with ground almonds and cocoa, with xylitol ( sweetener). Might satisfy me a bit. Made it before and it is a yummy treat.
I have been trying to buy my rare indulgence of veggie crisps but everywhere seems to be out of stock. I swear I will look like an almond at the end of this, I have eaten so many! ;D

I love running too,not just for physical exercise but for mental health exercise too, have you tried making your own veggie crisps?really easy, also the other thing I absolutely love is shredded kale, coated in olive oil then put in the oven for a few minutes til crispy, pongs the house out ;D but yummy

Could try to make the crisps Jaypo
Jake however is something I have tried to like but can't, may try again
-
Who is Jake when he's up and dressed :-\ :D

What's jake ever done to you ;D

:D

Think she meant kale ;D ;D
It has a completely different taste when crisped in the oven,if you've ever tried crispy seaweed from Chinese, that's the taste, the crisps are super easy to make, just slice them very thinly then fry or roast yum, think I might do that now :)

Duchesse potatoes = crisps?
I did wonder if it was supposed to be 'kale' ....... not my bag ;D however it's cooked.

Hello Donnadoobie
Unfortunately I can't help you as I do the opposite by eating a high carbohydrate diet! I would suggest that you go easy on the use of oil though as it is very fattening and of no nutritional benefit.
I wonder if making smoothies would satisfy your appetite without adding carb calories?
Wishing you well.

;D ;D ;D Yes Kale not Jake, typed in on my phone, hate the small keyboard.
Potatoes are out for me CLKD, duchess or crisps
Kathleen, I only use extra virgin olive oil and butter occasionally. Strangely I dieted most of my adult life and always ate low fat. It wasn't until I changed to a low carb diet that I started eating full fat everything, including oils and butter and lost weight.

Donna. I put myself on a no carb diet a few years ago. I have an eating disorder so have often made up my own diets cutting a food group or type out completely so not recommended at all. But I found it very hard to reintroduce carbs. My digestive system protested . So just to say if you do eat more carbs than usual then do it in small doses. Your body will need to adjust. Xxxx

I also have fads ....... usually after I've bought lots of food ::)

Hello again ladies
Donnadoobie - I've read about the Ketogenic diet which I think is low carb and high fat. Is that the sort of diet you eat? I believe it is used by some people for weight loss and it seems to have had that effect for you.
Wishing you well.
