I'm aiming for the Elsa from Frozen look, but fear it will end up being a Greta Thunberg!
What about you?
-
You read my mind. I looked in the mirror earlier that thought "When do I begin trimming back the fringe so that I don't look like I have trimmed back the fringe" ;D
Mine was cut 2 weeks ago.
-
My fringe was due to be cut before all of this, it will be halfway down my face at the end of this! ;D
Managed to source some hair dye, waiting for it to be delivered this week. Not ready to go full grey just yet! ;D
-
I will trim my fringe, when needed, as I can't bare hair in my eyes. The rest of it can do its own thing. Should be interesting.
-
I use nail scissors for my fringe - probably looks like I do when I've finished :D. Then the hair gets stuck on the wash basin in the bathroom which makes another job ! Most I pick out with a tissue which goes into the compost so it isn't all wasted and anything longer can go out to the birds for nesting?
-
I wish I'd had a haircut before this, I'm well on the way to scarecrow ;D
-
;D. photos ;D
-
I'm so glad that I've already started growing my fringe out. I've given up on it as I've also battled with a cowlicks. I might look better with a fridge, but it always stuck up, so I've decided to let it do it's own thing. Can't be bothered to blow dry or use the hot brush as there is no one to notice. Well DH doesn't notice! I just shove it up in a haphazard bun, if it looks grim.
-
with a fridge ;D - is that predictive text :whist:
-
I have been having my hair in a low ponytail or plait. I usually have it high up on my head in a messy bun but as my hair has thinned a lot I am seeing whether having less 'stress? on it will help.
I haven't worn make up or earrings or any jewellery since lockdown. I just can't be bothered. I pull a hat on when I go for my daily walk.
-
it's not the cutting I'm thinking about but that I didn't have my colour done last time I went to hairdressers- might try mascara on it if I feel desperate :D
-
I wish I'd had a haircut before this, I'm well on the way to scarecrow ;D
I got in just in time. On my last workday before we closed, I got a text from my hairdresser about their closure the following week. My hair was already annoying me so I hurriedly booked it and went the next day. Got him to cut it shorter than usual because my hair is very fast growing.
-
I'm not that bothered about my hair it's a chin length bob with a fringe. My hair was due to be cut last week but had been cancelled anyway as my hairdressers was flooded badly end of last month & I hadn't bothered to book with another haridressers.
As hair has grown so much I can just about put it up if it gets annoying and I'm going to cut my fringe as it's getting too long now after 8 weeks, luckily they showed me how on The One Show & there are plenty of videos on You Tube!
-
But the guy on the 1 Show had the fringe hanging over her face when he had finished ;D
-
My OH has clippers he's offered to cut it at a very reasonable cost, I'm still negotiating over the cost ;D
-
with a fridge ;D - is that predictive text :whist:
Might suit me better!

Hello ladies
I wish I'd been to my hairdressers before all this lockdown business. My hair is fairly thick (meno has had zero effect on it) but too long. I don't colour my hair and it is still mainly dark blonde/brown but the grey strands are definitely there.
I was watching a YouTube video of Ellen DeGeneres interviewing Kevin Hart over the phone. She noticed he was suddenly going grey and he said the reason more grey hairs were showing was because his barber had stopped working! We may see a lot more of that from film and telly celebs over the coming weeks!
There are also videos of Italian Mayors broadcasting to their residents and telling them to obey the lockdown rules. They basically shout at the screen and one guy was appalled that some women wanted their hairdressers to visit them as usual. One Mayor pointed out that it wasn't worth the risk and anyway no one will see their lovely hair in a closed casket! Obviously serious messages but the passion with which they are delivered makes for entertaining viewing.
Wishing everyone well and stay safe.

I think i will probably be going for a Chewbacca look.

I think i will probably be going for a Chewbacca look.
I read this as hair on head plus pits, legs and ......... ;D all joining together in a fetching hirsute style :o
-
You've got it, Two hoots! :)
-
I'm thinking Cousin It from The Adams Family x
-
Salad, I use a roots touch up, between treatments. I think its about ?10 on amazon, much cheaper in home bargain but avoiding atm. It works really well. I'm not looking forward to seeing how grey I actually am! As for the fringe, my sons girlfriend, who's living with us says she'll have a go. I once asked my husband to do it and he made an awful mess. When I was upset he said he told me he couln't cut hair so what did I expect, I'm not risking him doing it again!
-
Don't snip it directly across ........ layering in small clips by holding a small amount of hair, rest, review and walk away ?
-
Colour my issue too, myself & colleague have made a pact to go grey together. Neither of us brave enough to do colour ourselves!! x
-
GREEN :o
If ever I coloured my hair over the bath it looked like murder had been committed :o now I've gone grey, gracefully. It really aint' too bad.
-
I only have highlights, which grow out naturally without noticing. My hair grows too fast for permanent colour and I couldn't be faffed with root touch ups. Normally get mine cut every five weeks but really could do with being done every 3 to 4.
-
Yeah I remember my friend having a go at colouring and it turned green. I couldn't help it, had to ;D
A former neighbour of mine was in her mid 70s and had beautiful silver hair. One day she decided to put a blonde colour on it just for a change. She had a young grandchild with her for the day and went over the time a bit. It turned out bright orange/red and I mean bright! I had to look after the grandchild while she shot off, with a hat pulled over her head to try and catch the chemists before it closed to get something to put it right.
-
:o and did it. Quieten the colour ?
There's photos on the BBC this morning about 'wrong' hair cuts ::)
-
Luck or design Teresa?
-
-
sparkle that's a great idea!
Teresa - what price will you put on each one plus postage ? ;)
-
Heavens it's allright for you lot who get your hair cut every few weeks! I get mine done every 3-4 months as it costs quite a lot and I live rural see. I was just going to get mine cut the week we went on voluntary lockdown before they shut compulsorily the next week - it being 3.5 months since last chop but my husband managed to dissuade me, so mine already looks terrible.
I started to redye my hair as I didn't like the grey look so managed to order 4 packs online of a slightly darker version of my usual colour which will have to do. I usually colour it every 3 weeks but now stretching it to four as hardly anyone to see me. However all the people from the village I'm now meeting on my walks will see the tell-tale root stripe!
I'm really going to look an absolute sight and wondering how to cut my layers myself to avert the worse than usual through a hedge backwards look!

I had a little chop yesterday :) I grab a bit, twist it and chop, Vidal Sassoon would be proud ;D
-
I pay 43.00 pounds OAP rates every 5-6 weeks. The same girl washes/cuts/dries - it takes about an hour of chat and catching up.
This morning I asked DH how long it would take him to keep me tidy and he thinks that by the time we are out of lockdown he should be able weild scissors enough to make me look presentable ;D
-
I wouldn't let DH near me with a pair of scissors! He did suggest I cut his hair. I agreed with a evil glint in my eyes! Don't know why he changed his mind! He's got very curly hair, wasted on a man! Hairdressers love it, but it was wasted on him when he was a policeman as he had to have it short. The one good thing about my hair is that it's still blonde at 66. I think there are silver hairs, but they don't show up.
-
How does it look in the cold light of day Two Hoots?
-
Hardly noticeable ;D
-
Going to have another snip then are you ;D
-
Mine is pricey I'm afraid hence only every 3-4 months.
However I always colour it myself so I took the plunge with the new colour and very pleased with the result and... inspired by you Two Hoots - I took the scissors to my mop!
I always cut the fringe anyway but because the main hair was so grown out with dry ends I even did the layers (it's mid length so quite easy) tricky bit was the back but I somehow took the section of hair , combed it out and snipped the ends of those layers too. Also I did the length by parting it at the back and combing it out. Got my husband to check the back was even and he gave the odd extra snip.
Luckily my hair is thick and wavy so any uneven layers are just part of the look! Pity we don't have a gallery - we could parade our new hairstyles!!!
Very pleased with how it looks and who needs to pay a fortune at Toni and Guy!!
I have regularly cut my husband's hair throughout our time together but lately had been protesting as it's harder to do shorter hair, but he's asked me again so here we go - thank-you Youtube!

I thought that Toni and Guy went out with the Ark :-\. How much is too much to pay for a professional hair cut?
My stylist has done lots of different Courses - she never forces 'product' on me and we have a good old catch up ::). Small family saloon ...... now with doors firmly shut :'(
-
Not another queue to join ;D
-
Mine will go another week. I think ;D
-
Wynne Evans (go compare man) had his son cut his hair with the dog clippers, he doesn't have much hair left ;D
-
The difference between a bad haircut and a good one might be ::)
-
Well my sons girlfriend has cut his hair, or rather shaved it. Someone said he looks like Sean McGregor from trainspotting!! There are bits of hair everywhere, reminds me of pine needles. Will I still be clearing it away at Christmas!
-
It always makes me laugh how, when they do these progs about hairstyles, they get people like hairdresser Nicky Clarke on. he is desperately trying to hang on to his youth but he just looks like a 70s pop star. Then they get Davina McCalls hairdresser boyfriend on who is equally bad and has his hair hanging all over his eyes.
-
Oh has she got a boyfriend :-\.
Nicky Clark once said on camera that he likes his clients to leave his saloon looking as though they haven't visited :o WHAT after spending all that money :-X
I did DH's eyebrows and side burns yesterday - apparently I did quite a good job 8)
-
Crikey where's that year fled to!
A few weeks ago I hacked at my fringe, didn't mean to :o but wasn't really in the mood ;D
This morning I had another go, this time more carefully but I still cut my L ear ! and my fringe - well even if you didn't know me this morning, when we meet on the street tomorrow :whist:
It hasn't seemed to grow as quickly in the Winter, hair is curling into the nape ........... anyone else got their scissors out ?
-
Yep, me this morning. Cut my fringe and now I can see where I'm going 😃. I always think my hair grows more slowly in the winter, but don't know if it's true.

My daughter is a hairdresser and i'm in her bubble! ;)
-
MayB she could put a U-tube up for us to follow ;D. R we in 3rd or 4th lockdown :-\
-
Depends if you're counting the Tiers, we were in Tier 4 that was not much different from lockdown.
Think I'd manage doing the front of my hair and putting colour on but woudnt attempt cutting the back.
-
My lockdown hairstyle? Hair bunged up behind me, with fringe grown out. One day I will be able to have it cut and styled, but as my hair does what it wants, very fine and slippery, it’s hard to know what to do with it. I have a cowlick messing any semblance of a fringe and when short it has to be washed everyday if I don’t want to live with bed hair. The only good thing about my hair is it’s natural blonde colour and thickness. Any suggestions?
-
Leave well alone ? ;D - I think salons will be open mid-April?
-
I was the idiot in June 2019 who decided not to get her hair cut for a year and a day - I had a v v short, shaved round the sides, little wisps on top sort of 'do'. Of course, we get to June 2020 and I still don't feel confident to go into a barbers / hairdressers. Now it's shoulder length. Never been this long in my entire life. Husband loves it. Previously, I was unaware that it naturally fell into ringlets. Well, that's one good thing I suppose.
-
I keep putting off booking an appt.: do I have hi/low lights B4 a trim? Do I have a 'bob' then go for a colour when it's grown a bit :-\. I like some of the styles that Audrey Hepburn had but she was probably groomed by a team at the Studios. I like the heavy amount on top but would like the back cut out of my neck though the neighbour tells me that she prefers my hair longer :-\
She's a lot younger than I am and had her hair coloured in a salon. Well, I could have done it better for her! Hi/low lights would suit her much better ;)
Watch this space?
-
I was just browsing hair styles for the over 50s and all the models must have been in their 20s.
?
-
;D I found the same, I then saw photos of Judi Dench and all her styles would suit me 8).
-
I'm embracing being natural (well trying!). After 20 years of monthly roots, last year due to lockdown I couldn't colour so decided to to grow it out. As soon as I could I had my hair cut into a pixie which was drastic. I really hated the colour, but now having just had it cut again all the dye is out I find I have a salt and pepper look which I'm reasonably with. I talked to the hairdresser about low lights but she said I had my own low lights going on so to leave it.
-
When the current lockdown was announced, I immediately booked an appointment and got a good trim. Dh didn't go and now he's cursing his hair lol. There is talk that the stay-at-home order and lockdown will be extended past the 20th.
-
Soonest hair appointment I could get was Wednesday, it was great to get my colour done & I got it chopped and a fringe cut in, really pleased with it. Here's hoping don't need to wait as long for next appointment!! x
-
C.C. - get some clippers that the farmers use for sheep ;)
-
I have a funny story about that. During lockdown I came home from work & saw patches of wool in my back garden, on asking my OH what had been going on he admitted to using clippers on his dad outside on the patio!! I would have sworn a sheep had been in the garden ;D x
Ps I never let him near me with the clippers!! x
-

Omg, that's funny you should say that! The first lockdown last spring when all this was new, I bought a barber set from Amazon, thinking dh and ds would be desperate enough for me to cut their hair but dh wouldn't have it, he told me to return it lol! He said he'd rather wait it out for the barber's to open. :D
-
But C.C. they weren't going to see, or be seen, by anyone ;D and there's always a woolly hat to wear
Foxylady - at least the birds had nesting material ? It amazes me how much hair actually falls off!

I know right?? ;D ;D

Wooly hats from the thift shop?
-
Eventually had my hair cut last Wednesday, my fringe was ridiculously long & driving me insane!
