Title: Newbie here ?post menopause
Post by: AnnieF75 on March 11, 2020, 01:31:57 PM
Hi, so glad to have found this forum. I'm 44 years old never had any period problems until I had a miscarraige 4 years ago. Following that I started with heavy periods so had the mirena coil which has been great, with only minimal bleeding. Also on Levo for hypothyroidism. Recently started with severe anxiety and some night sweats. Gp did FSH which came back at 90, which she says is postmenopausal level. I'm about to start on Oestrogel. I've also got back problems and some joint pain. I suppose I'm just wondering if this is it? Can I have really gone through the menopause so quickly and (relatively!!) easily?? Has anyone else experienced this? And what should I expect from the oestrogel?? Thanks in advance!

Hi!  Hormone blood tests are reliably un-reliable!

Menopause literally means the last monthly period.  No more.  Ever.  One needs to have been free of bleeds for at least 12 months to be post.  Your body may have got there on it's own if you had the Mirena.

As oestrogen levels drop muscles may become lax = aches and pains.  Also the body may become dry : skin, scalp, eyes, deep in the ears, nostrils, vagina  :o browse round.  Make notes  ;)

:welcomemm:  Maybe keeping a mood/food/symptom diary will be useful?
