Hi there, I had my first screening a couple of weeks ago and arrived home last night to be advised that the test was unclear and to go back again on Monday for further tests, but this time at the main surgery.
Now in my head I am saying "its fine" etc etc... no history in family, not on HRT etc etc.... but when I read into it more a few things have sprung out and in a way I am hoping that some of it is peri meno (not had a period for 7 months) and the other is just too much exercise/not enough stretching.
Anyone else got any experience of this. I do have, but not all of the time, itchy breasts, a rash under one (but thought this was more night sweat related) and neck/shoulder pain.

Don't panic.
Exactly the same thing happened to me after my first one. Turns out I must have moved slightly for one of the images so it was blurred. I do think they should explain this better as it causes so much unnecessary stress. They tell you it was unclear as well, which indicates just a blurred image. I was told nothing, just a recall. ::)

If they'd found something nasty you would have been referred. The most likely explanation is that the image is unclear. Mine are checked at the time and they make the referral on the day but it's a specialist travelling unit so perhaps the staff are more experienced. Try not to worry.

thanks.
It was a travel unit and my first screening.
I know it will be fine.

My films are always checked as I have a history of breast disease: not found on mammogram though but self examination.
It is surprising how many women are recalled. There should be a better way of processing at the time of mammogram! would save worry as well as time. Once the film has been looked at by the radiographer it goes to be reported on which may take 7+ days.

I was recalled too from a mobile unit too but I'd moved to a different area in the U.K. and like you, because it was a first image for them, they had nothing to compare it to and the second imaging I had done, they were perfectly satisfied with, that's all it will be,please let us know :)

Try not to worry! This happened to me after my 1st mammogram too. Part of the reason is that they don't have any image from a previous one to make any comparison. In my case, they thought they had seen something but were mistaken. They said that perhaps one bit of tissue was 'folded over onto another bit'. Waiting was horrible but it was all clear on the day.

I've had a recall too - because the scan wasn't clear and it was just that - not that they wondered if they saw smething, just they couldn't see clearly enough to say anything. Sweat rash underneath is nothing to do with the breast itself unless you want to treat it as a skin condition. Itchy breasts especially nipples can rarely be a sign of breast disease so if the itching continues do consult your doc separately from the mammogram. I also have itchiness (on one boob) but doc had a look and thought it might be the tubercles? Please try not to worry - diffcult I know...

I've been called back twice for more imaging. Both times were fine on the second film. But it's definitely scary and nerve-wracking to go through.

I had a recall after my 1st one too and when I went to they found the same area so wanted to a biopsy. However, they couldn't locate the area to do it, so they arranged for me to have a MRI, which came back clear. They said to me that as it was a 1st time they had nothing to compare it with and that area was just the way I am! I didn't get a recall from my second one.

thanks everyone.
I was recalled due to them seeing a "mass" but as it was my first one they weren't too sure if this was the norm. They carried out further tests and all is good :)

Yay,great news Bradenton xx

Tnx for the update. You must be so relieved! :tulips2:

Good to hear that! Very similar to my first experience. It made me really nervous when it came to my 2nd one 3 years later but that was fine.
