Hi
I have a dry mouth to the point where I am not making much saliva and my tongue and throat feel a bit sore. I have only noticed it since being on HRT. I wonder if its the progesterone? Anyone else suffering and is there anything you have found to get it back to normal?
Thanks :thankyou:

I have a dry mouth - I have no idea if it is the hrt and I think I had it without. It drives me nuts. I drink lots.
I tried sugarless dental chewing gum for a while. The advantage of this was it cut down on my need for laxatives ???

Honey bean.
II believe it can be a side effect of low eastrogen drying out the mucous membranes. I had it after surgical menopause. It hasnt got any worse for me since using HRT. In fact it has improved since my eastrogen levels increased recently. .
Have you had your blood sugar and thyroid checked?
Also, being as it is sore is their a possibility it could be thrush? Have you recently had anti biotics?
some meds such as anti histamines can cause or exacerbate dry mouth.
I dont use mouthwashes and i too find chewing sugar free gum helps stimulate saliva. Hope that helps.
Xxx

I started HRT last year, in October I think. I was started on a low dose of progesterone. 1 tablet and this month it's been increased to 2 tablets and that's when I've really noticed it. Which is why I thought it my be the Progesterone... I can't say I had noticed before I started on the HRT. But then again I might have had milder symptoms but was suffering with brain fog so I may not have joined all the dots!! ;D
