For those that have had success with testosterone, was the effect noticeable quite quickly, or is it a slow change? Or depends on the individual? I am one for whom estrogel helped slowly over time, not one of the ones who had a night and day miraculous transformation. It's still early days (about 3 weeks) and I'm not noticing anything positive (resurrecting my libido is my motivation for trying it). Not really anything negative either...maybe a little more irritable in the evenings, but that could also be me being hangry. Trying to figure if it's worth keeping on, or is the T just doing that aromatization thing and not really working as I intend.

I think the advice is it can take up to 6 months x

The gynae who first prescribe it to me said up to 4-5 months but I did notice some difference within a few weeks but yes it was very slow and subtle.....until boom - I suddenly had a proper "response" again ::) and aches and pains after exercise much reduced....Hope it's like this for you.
What do you mean about the aromatisation thing?? I'm not sure there is evidence of this with exogenous (added) testosterone is there, even though it is the endogenous precursor of oestrogen in our bodies? This does come up quite regularly and I would love to see some links to this.

Testosterone took 4-6 months to work for me, but then I had literally zero levels of testosterone to start with.

I had clearer patterns of thought and more energy quite quicky, noticeable after the first 4/5 weeks Response was better after 2 months but any sexy thought didn't really get into the mix until about 4/5 months. It took about 5 months for the whole lot to level and stay level. I'd say testosterone can be a bit of a "slow burn" shannonplussed.
I remember it made me a bit hungry when I started...not hangry...just hungry ::) xx

Wow, one more thing to be patient about! I'll stick it out then. Interesting point about being more hungry, because I have felt that in the last week--I assumed because of increasing CrossFit workouts to thrice weekly.
Hurdity, I really don't know about aromatization, I've just seen it mentioned in comments here and there. I've been down so many internet wormholes, but that's not been one of them.

4 months for me, and I felt part of my old self coming back.
Party line is 5 months for full effects but everyone is different.
I've read on here that if you have low estrogen that your body will convert the testosterone you take in to estrogen. Don't know if that's true or not but annoying if it is bcz it moves the goal post of 5 months. I've never had my estrogen level tested so don't know.
Either way it's a long walk not a quick jog so prepare your mind for that.

Turkish delight, our own testosterone can convert to estrogen but it is not clear yet if exogenous testosterone, Testogel etc, will do the same in women .I would like to know myself as it does in men but it's difficult to find research about conversion in women. I remember reading it does, but can't find the research anymore.

Re the aromatisation - yes this is how oestrogen is made in our bodies from T - but the only research I remember reading about this is for the old Intrinsa patches where there were clinical trials for 3 years and oestrogen levels were unchanged after using the T patch (if I recall correctly) - however this was with concurrent oestrogen replacement so whether exogenous T converts to oestrogen when oestrogen levels are low - is another matter and I 'm not sure if there has been any research on this?

I was on Intrinsa patches (which were brilliant btw), and remember my specialist wouldn't allowed me to start them until I had been on oestrogen patches for 3 months so maybe this is the case x
