So ... I was informed this afternoon, that I'm being made redundant :'(
What do I do now ?
-
Oh, I'm really sorry to hear that. Are you able to get advice re your options? x
-
Oh sh@*t Pants, I'm so sorry.
Other than get another job, I can't offer much advice.
Don't think Benefits will help you. If you read the papers and so forth, it's too hard now to get anything! 🤬
Could you not set anything up on your own? I know your a very intelligent person.
But maybe your feeling too poorly for that too.?
All you can do is phone the citizens advice, and find out what's what....xx
-
Oh no pants,that's terrible :'(
-
Have spent the last 2 hours crying. Can't think beyond ... need to stop crying.
-
Aww pants that's understandable, what was it you did?
-
Ethics and Compliance Officer for an American technology company.
Only had the job 15 months, after being made redundant from a job that Id had for 10 years.
Don't know how to do anything else.
-
So sorry to hear that pants :'(
-
Is it difficult to get another job in 'that'sounds very specific work
-
Yeah. Very specific and senior too.
I've been made redundant twice in 3 years. It sucks.
May be time for a career change. But don't know what else to do.
47 years old and no idea !!
-
Oh pants you're young yet and obviously a clever woman, you won't stick......surely xx
-
So sorry to read this pants46

A shock even if one was expecting it.
Did the Company do the 3 months' advice period which is a legal requirement?
What is your skill base? Go back to your original qualifications and work from there. What hobbies could you turn into work? Self-employed for example?
Get financial advice pronto. Keep detailed notes of what you spend for 3 months. Everything. Stamps, knickers, bird food etc., what ever you spend regularly. Could you shop more cheaply or in bulk, sharing with someone which cuts costs?
Maybe jot down your qualifications here so that we can browse and get Thniking Caps on?

Oh pants I'm so sorry to hear this x

Crap, Crap and double crap Pants....it's always a shock...and it's worse when we are not in our right minds...living generally is worse with this meno lark without the rest of the bul**it!
Well...crying and panic are understandable don't beat yourself up about that, just write the day off and possibly tomorrow too until you can get a thought together :'( :'( ...and then I find it best to work out an action plan :) Is there any timeframe as to when this actually happens..is it going to be quickly?
Do you work remotely or are these companies few and far between. Is it hardware technology or software tech and in what field....you know one of the best questions you can ask lots of people....and there are loads of us on here is..."who do you know who????? does this kind of tech....might need someone who does x???". You never know who we might know Pants xxx
Tell us more xxx

I must be completely mad. All the advice I'm getting from my friends is to slow down, look after myself, get a life.
And the last year has been hell. I have barely gotten out of bed for weeks at a time.
So, what am I doing right now ... looking at job sites. And thinking the 'Head of Risk, Compliance and Assurance' at Oxford University looks like an interesting role.
For goodness sake, the universe is sending me messages, but I am not listening.
Aaaaaggghhh.
-
Yes that's as maybe.... but unless you have been stashing bank notes under a mattress, having a life can be quite challenging on the breadline!! ;) honey..... or maybe the universe has something else planned like "Head of Risk, Compliance and Assurance" because it thought you were wasted in the Tech company and Oxford University is far more prestigious!! ;) xxx

I love you Ladybt28. xx

I can't sleep :'(

Pants46 I've been made redundant twice in the last 5 years too. I didn't mind the first time as I wanted out anyway, but the it really hurt the second time as I loved that job and was good at it.
I picked something up straight away though through an Agency (have you thought about this there's loads out there, and some are very good). What it has done is forced me to take a new direction, so now I'm only working 2 days a week and really enjoying my new work life balance. Don't be scared it might work out better for you in the long run x

So sorry to hear that pants, a really worrying time.
How are you feeling today?
