Title: Vagifem and Ovestin regime question
Post by: Bobidy on January 09, 2020, 09:23:37 PM
Hi

Quick question please...

I've just finished my 2 week Vagifem load along with a pea sized blob of Ovestin on outside 'bits'. I'm going to then do this each Monday and Thursday (twice per week).

I can see things are more moisturised already and a little outer sore bit has gone, so I'm really pleased.

My question is, do I just use the Ovestin now on the same nights as the Vagifem e.g. Twice per week and the Yes moisturiser the other nights?

Thanks x

I have never managed on twice a week Vagiem so if it was me i would probably use the Ovestin on the nights i didn't use the Vagifem, but it is really trial and error.

Ho bobidy...I concur with Tinkerbell.  I use Vagifem daily and estrone cream on the external every 2nd day.  It really is trial and error.

Thanks everyone. I'm so grateful to this forum. I'd never heard of VA 12 months ago! I think I've started it right at the beginning of it all so I'm hopeful twice a week will be ok (fingers crossed).

I'll just play it by ear then I think xx

I started treatment relatively early on but still never managed on that low dose but we are all different.
The Vagifem used to come in a 25mcg applicator to be used twice a week but then the dose was changed to 10 mcg. A female GP at my practice said she had a lot of problems when that happened as the majority of her ladies couldn't cope on the new dose so she was happy to prescribe it to be used for up to 5X a week.

I was told by the urogynae and her support nurse that it was fine to use Vagifem daily if needed. I don't need it as often now (about 3 times a week) that I am using Evorel Conti patches.

I'm a daily vagifem user and i insert halfway up towards tummy so that's helping in and out ! I do have Ovestin as well for those rare days I'm sore externally x

Thanks everyone, yes the estrogel definitely also helps too. I'm hopefully going to get the Vagifem / Ovestin on repeat prescription next week so I think I'll let my body dictate how often I use it not my gp x

i to was on estrogel and found it did help with va very well and combined with twice a week ovestin was making me to wet down there i had to much vaginal secretions and knickers were constantly damp i cut back to once a week ovestin and this helped whilst i'm not on estrogel at the moment i have had to increase to twice a week , also if you take progesterone this can cause dryness so may need to more it dosent in every women same as when u took the pill which can cause vaginal dryness it didn't in me but again everyone different x
