Title: 100 days on HRT And HRT updates.
Post by: Penelope on December 15, 2019, 02:28:32 AM
Who has good news about taking HRT?
i am 11 days in on KLIOVANCE.
Two doctors and a specialist have told me I will not know my self in three months.
And I will feel like I am 25 again!
Anyone else have these result on HRT?

You sound very negative to be on it???! Give it a chance. If you're experiencing unwanted symptoms then it might improve them?
I'm on patches myself so not familiar with what you've been put on but there's swaps you can make if you don't like that specific prescription for whatever reason...down the line. However keep positive and good luck with it  ;)

Hi
I think if you feel like you are 25 again then that's positive in my book!
I wish felt that way and have been on HRT for eight months now. It takes time for the HRT to get into the system hence the GP saying you won't know yourself n three months.
Good luck with it, if it's working great!

Enjoy .............. some ladies find that they need to use HRT for several months to feel benefit.  We are all different.

It's a bit like how long that piece of string might be  ;).  R U surprised?

It's about quality of life for me, so much better on HRT, completely life changing for me, although wouldn't go so far as saying I feel like I'm 25 again, although maybe on the odd day!!! x

HRT will stop hot flushes, night sweats etc but make you feel 25 I wish.

For me it enables me to get a decent nights sleep without constantly being woken up due to drenching night sweats. It enables me to think straight without anxiety and panic attacks which had reached the point that I was barely able to function at work and was seriously thinking of giving it up.

11 days isn't long enough to gauge if Kliovance is the right HRT it takes several months to feel the full benefits and it's definitely not a time machine.

I don't know if I would like to be 25 again  :-\  ;)

Let your body absorb the product - keep a mood/symptom/food diary to chart progress.  If side effects are bearable, stick with it?  What would you like to ease first?

You just need to give it time Penelope, and it might be that you might have to try different doses or different HRT's before you get what is right for you but it takes time. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another & sometimes it takes a combination of factors eg lifestyle changes, diet, exercise etc to get things more on an even keel. All the best. x

Day 14 and I seem to humming along nicely no side effects yet apart from a slight sore tummy twice a day just for a few minutes nothing needing meds or anything.
I am feeling lighter as in more easily able to get up and move around physically.
Hot flushes have halved in frequency
And the intensity of them is nearly nil.
Sleeping better but still waking twice a night like I did with hot flushes but now no flush so I am thinking it s habit. So will take some CBD oil to see if that will break that habit.
Brighter in thinking 🤔
Thanks for all the messages.xx

When i started HRT, Mirena and Estrogel, the VA improved, no night palpatations and i sleep really well. I do not feel particulary energised and still have aches and pains though, but maybe i need to work on other area, going to look at diet and exercise in new year.

Well as I've been going through the menopause since I was 25 I would like to feel like 24  ;D
Like others have said one size dose not fit all so I'd keep notes, how you feel etc, what symptoms have gotten better etc.
I have felt better on my patches, more energy, less sweats, not as flat but took me a while to find my suited HRT. But have always kept notes.
Good luck and stay positive xx

I am now up to day 19 on my HRT all side effects have gone if that is what you could call them they were very mild.I noticed on day 17 A huge increase in lubrication down there wow the toilet paper slid straight through it gave me rather a shock because I have never thought I had become dry.And have never been able to understand women saying they were dry.Surprise surprise.

Night 18 I had my first full nights sleep in 8 months and have been flushes free for the past three days.
My husband says I am amazing on HRT and he has noticed a huge difference in me.Most of all he thinks  I am much happier.
Last night I did observe a feeling of happiness for the future and I have not had that for over 26 years so that was different.
Merry Christmas 🎄 to you all And a Happy New Year 🥳 to all you lovely ladies.
I will update in another few days.

Merry Christmas Penelope :)

Took me a while to find something I liked, felt I was going crazy and almost gave up, believing that I was going to be one of the people that just didnt' get on with HRT. I'm now almost at the end of month 2 of Femiston 1/10 and while things aren't perfect they are better.

Without the tablets I could almost feel my insides sticking together!! Aside from a bit of a bubbly tummy in the progesterone phase things are ok.

Have a wonderful Christmas x

Hi Mogster wonderful news for you.Im guessing we are not getting many good stories because those that are flying high  and back to normal on HRT do not tend to visit this site as much as they did when they were unwell.
And that is fantastic as well.
Merry Christmas xx🎄

Day 24
Ok so I have people telling me I look wonderfull and I am so much happier.
I am now sleeping really well.
Hot flushes are now totally gone.
Sore tummy twice a day but only for a minute or two.Nothing to uncomfortable.
Breasts are fuller but do not hurt.
Still feeling aches and pains.
I am moving a lot easier more freely  like I am lighter if that makes sense.
I have moved back into my bedroom with hubby and that's so nice.
I sleep with blankets on.
I guess my biggest thing is I do not trust it yet!
Because I have had all this for so long I think it is going to take me awhile to trust that it is this good.
The Man that said we should not use HRT should be shot ten times over.
Will give another update soon.😀

Hi Penelope That's great news. Like you, my shopping list of symptoms disappeared within weeks of starting HRT.

4 weeks in and every symptom from top to bottom had gone! The other less obvious things I noticed as I got to the two month mark was that I could leave the house with everything I needed, I no longer had dry eyes and my elbows were the smoothest of anyone in the family!

My family also told me I was better than I had been for a long time so trust your husband when he says the same to you; he means it.

Oh yes it is possible to get your libido back.
All in good time, I'm sure yours will reappear.
Mine did after a good 6 months, it's just everything else has to get in order first.
As for the anxiety, I still suffer with that periodically, nothing too bad anymore, just a niggling nuisance, but it's a small price to pay in comparison to how I was before....
Keep going, it seems to be all fitting into place for you.....well done, long may it continue....
I'm really pleased for you....xx

Ha Ha loving the "biggest thing...I don't trust it yet"!! Its weird isn't it but it does come right! x  You're definitely on the right path but one thing I have learned.. if its' working don't be tempted to tweak it to see if you can make it work better!!!  ::)  Been there done that...leave well alone!

Day 30

Hello every one I am now on day thirty of my HRT still having a few pimples and the anxiety is still there keeping it in check at present have not seen a great improvement there yet.

Still waiting on the libido just a bit would be good.I must admit I have never in my life had one.

Very wet down stairs.

I have slept through the night twice now.

I am not so good at waiting.😀

However I have come from waking every two hours every night for 6 months!

It is summer and I actually sleep with a light blanket now.

It has been 7 days since I had a flush.

Three weeks since I had the feelings of doom.

The emotions are all back to normal very tearful  for only the first two weeks.

The zombie tired also lifted at about the two week mark.

Back to teaching Tai Chi soon so I am really hoping the anxiety lifts soon!

Day 40 HRT

Ok between day 30 to 40

Day 35 I had terrible depression it lasted 3 days then lifted.

Weight dropping off.

Also had a feeling in the tummy.

Day 36 I started getting hormone headaches every day.

Now only sleeping 8 hours a night I was sleeping ten hours a night a week ago.

Metallic taste in mouth.

Gone off coffee.

Seems to be a pattern with symptoms for 2-4 days then they change.

Benefits are still far outweighing the above.

Anxiety 90% settled.

Having times in the day when I feel so good and positive about the future!

I just can not  wait to take the pill every day so I can be further along😀

Hope my posting is helping someone else?

50 days on HRT Kliovance

After having depressions for four days 38-41 if lifted day 42 and has not returned.

Hormone headaches then started at day 40 till day 49 they lifted 2 days ago.

It feels like I am peeling back a Banana that has many many skins.

Weight loss is now 4 kg.Its like the metabolism switch has finally been turned to normal.

Bowel movements are now normal and regular.

Hemorrhoids are 80% better.

I am very surprised just what Hormones are responsible for.

Out of the blue on the 47th day this happened.

The best day ever!

I was totally free from anxiety
Free from any uncomfortable thoughts or feelings.

I felt like a child
I was warm and connected
I was confident
I felt I could conquer all.
I was excited
I felt ALIVE!

Happiness flowed from my heart and my being
I was light and floating,relaxed,optimistic

Never did I want that day to end.Oh how I wish it would come again.

Only those of you reading this that have been unwell for along time and have suffered Anxiety and panic and depression will fully appreciate what I just wrote.

If that one day is what I am going to gain being on HRT then I'm taking it forever.
They do say its only early days for me on HRT.

I got sucked into the good days and then got disappointed in the early stages when I had 3 or 4 bad ones in a row thinking the good ones would never come back but they did.
So pleased for you!!

Day 55 on HRT

I was hoping not to post till day 60
How ever yesterday about 4 O?clock I started getting bombarded with bad thoughts so much so that watching TV did not help at all.But anxiety symptoms did not come with it as it usually would.
Then around 7pm I had three huge blind pimples come up on the chin.
Felt like I had a slight hot flush
I went to bed very distressed thinking here we go again with another break down.

Woke this morning bad thoughts gone!Thank god.BUT
Pains in tummy like I had in week one and two.
And chills
Bit loose on the loo just like in week one and two
Acid reflux.

Maybe this is the two steps back they talk about?

Day 60 on HRT

As you can see a slight hiccup I had at day 55 since then fine.
Today I have felt very very tired. It lifted around 6.30 tonight.

So to recap in the last 60 days the symptoms I have had disappear are as follows.

Sore palms especially at night.
Bowels are regular.finally
Hemorrhoids are 80% better
Psoriasis is 70% better
Sore joints
The feeling of being hot 24/7
Waking every two hours. Now sleeping 8 hours every night.
Hot flushes gone.
Weight gain has a baited.Lost 5 kg since starting HRT
Lubrication was never a problem but man I'm back like I am 30 again.
I'm looking younger and feeling younger and more agile moving around seems easier.
Brain fog has gone.
Memory is much better.
I am having a 30 min nap in the day.
I know longer feel I am dragging myself around I have a lot more energy.

So over all my quality of life is 75 % better than 60 days ago.

Day 71 on HRT

Hi everyone well day 64 was a right off l got the most depressed I have ever been in my life.
Then the cold chills hit and I lay freezing on the couch for an hour and a half covered in blankets while it was 29 degrees.that night I did not sleep until 6 in the morning.

Day 65- Day 71 have been really good no mental crap or chatter I am back to sleeping 10 hours at night and a nap in the day.life is good. But I must admit I'm a little scared I may have another episode.

Went to the doctor yesterday and he said the drop in my temperature along with the depression is thyroid. So it just tells us once again the HRT is working and I need to just keep going.

Day 75
Ok it's been ten day since I last plunged into depression and yesterday it happened again I spent most of the day crying I was so tired then about four o?clock I hit rock bottom I felt terrible.

On days 72-73 I have been experiencing a very sore left kidney but that has gone now.
For two evenings I have all so felt light headed at night this has gone now.
Today I feel very tired and just wonder what the hell next is headed my way.
I know these things are for just a few days at a time and that is a good thing but they are always replaced by something else.
I still have a low mood and motivation most of the time that has not lifted
When ever I have these episodes I seem to be unable to drink coffee so I no it's the Hormones having a wobble.

80 Days on HRT I can not believe I have made It my goal is 90 days

Everyone seems to say three months must be tried before upping the dose or changing.
And 7- 10 months to feel the full effect.

it's been a hell of a journey with symptoms everyday bar about 3.

However the symptoms have lowered in severity thank God and are nothing I have not had over the last 30 years.Bringing back a lot of memories with me now realising Wow that was hormones!

I would not want to go through those 80 days again.

Yesterday morning was great then I experienced 5 hours of freezing cold feet that I could not warm up and a really hot red face.

You never know what each day will bring so soldiering on is all you can do.

I will keep going I have to I am not going back to the living hell I was in waking every two hours with flushes and not sleeping.🌹

3 Months on HRT!

Wow I have made it and I can say I did not start to feel better I till 6 days ago!

No one tells you just what a rocky road it is going to be.How down the bad days will really be.But up you come again to get another horrible symptom that lasts another few days and on it goes.

You must stick with it if you can or you will never know how good it will be at the three month mark. The longest lasting symptom I had was a hormone headache for Ten days but it lifted and has not come back so far.

I hope in all my posts on this thread will give  you  an idea of what it has been like to take HRT for me.

I would love others to document there journeys also. That is one thing lacking on this forum.

The weight loss of 6kg has been a bonus and very unexpected.I was placed on HRT because I had just been diagnosed with Hashimoto's I don't take any other medication and I must say taking HRT has made all my thyroid symptoms disappear.

Wish I had been put on it after my son was born.I see they are now offering it instead of antidepressants finally to new mums.

I will continue to update 🌹
Thank you to all you wonderful strong women for your encouragement and advice.

Hello Penelope

I'm so pleased that you are doing well on your regime. Long may it continue.

It's interesting that you don't take anything for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.   I wonder if this means that your thyroid is no longer diseased and inflammed.  If so that is very good news indeed!

Wishing you well and take care.

Penelope I am absolutely chuffed to bits for you.  The idea of documenting "your days on hrt" on the forum is a really good one.  Its like keeping a mini diary.
It just sort of "happens" doesn't it?  Weird huh?  And I would say the same about using hormonal treatments for PND as really its one massive hormonal imbalance but of course it would put the mental health specialists noses out joint!!  In fact I know of one case where a mum with PND is using hrt as treatment instead of AD's and the mental health route and the mental health team are giving her a real hard time and actually told her she was "crazy to try such off the wall treatment"  and are trying to withdraw their support if she continues >:( >:(  As if the journey isn't hard enough without that attitude, makes me mad :angryfire: Hormones for PND is considered really "outside the box" by most so called health professionals yet it makes perfect sense to me!

Keep telling us how you are getting on but now you're your own "good news" story  :clapping:

I know this below was me for 26 years scary stuff. And something we all need to No is it Mental Illness or Hashimoto's Thyroiditis?
Hashimoto's thyroiditis is a common cause of hypothyroidism that is often misdiagnosed as depression or other mental health conditions

Imagine having all the symptoms of a major mental illness such as manic depression, paranoid schizophrenia, psychotic depression, or even a bipolar disorder. One day you wake up with overflowing physical energy, even feeling severely anxious, with a rapid heartbeat, profuse sweating, trembling hands, and diarrhea, and you can't stop losing weight. Then soon enough, without warning, your energy plummets. You feel like a slug, are constipated, your hair starts falling out, you gain weight no matter how little you eat, and you are severely depressed. You may have difficulty swallowing, sound hoarse, and feel like you have swallowed something that wont go down. And then, suddenly, your old symptoms return, and you feel anxious, sweaty, trembling, and panicky. This cycle can repeat itself again and again.

While your symptoms resemble a mental health issue, they could be signs of Hashimoto's thyroiditis, one cause of hypothyroidism. Hashimoto's thyroiditis, also known as autoimmune thyroiditis or simply ?Hashimoto's, is caused by an autoimmune disorder. In this case, the body's immune system sees the thyroid gland as a foreign body and begins to attack, damaging and killing thyroid cells along the way. As the cells are damaged or destroyed, they release their stored thyroid hormone, causing classic hyperthyroid symptoms such as anxiety, panic attacks, shaking hands, sweating, and a racing heart.

Each autoimmune attack causes more and more damage to the thyroid gland until, ultimately, the gland is no longer able to produce adequate thyroid hormones. Every cell in the body needs thyroid hormones, so a deficiency can wreak havoc on the entire system, causing depression, weight gain, severe fatigue, brain fog, memory loss, and even overall body aches.

With such a dramatic swing in symptoms, it's easy to see how Hashimoto's disease could be misdiagnosed as a mental illness like manic depression or bipolar disorder. And it happens much too often. A 1987 study found that as many as 15% of patients admitted to a psychiatric hospital for depression actually were suffering from some level of hypothyroidism.

100 days on HRT!
I can not believe I made it and survived.

Since day 87 everything improved ten fold then yesterday and to day have been a small wobble but nothing like leading up to  day 87.

It would be fare to say I have had 9 days straight of really good Quality of life.

And I can't believe I can type that.

My symptoms of menopause and thyroid were off the wall off  this planet.

Good luck everyone else just starting and ask as many questions as you like.

Most importantly HANG in it gets a lot better!🌹

And write a post about it so we can all share in your journey!

SammieJane hi have had hairbrushes full of hair falling out for decades due to the thyroid and I have not had it increase since taking HRT.

I see so many women are worried about it on this forum but really it's the least of my worries you would have thought with my amount of hair loss for so long I would be bald by now but nope I still have a very full head of hair. All be it dry and brittle.

Hubby still has to clear the shower plug out once a fortnight or it clogs up🌹

The funny thing is I have very thick hair it may have thinned a little on the top at the front but nothing to worry about.I know what you mean.I can't understand how much I can have fall out and still not be balled I think that we think it's falling out but probably closer to the truth is it breaks off.🌹

hi penelope

i have mega thick hair like you but i'd say i've lost close to 50 percent of it

mainly nape of neck behind ear very front and sides. before i started hrt the only area that thinned ever so slightly was right at the front of forehead and temples but was still thick and grew dead quick x

since then taking hrt it's caused it to thin recede behind ears lost me curls from underneath nape of neck and sides tinned and overall  x

i?m gutted really x if i was older natural menopause age i wouldn't care but only 40 and i?m finding it harder to except although i know for some it's devastating no matter what the age x

just wish hrt would be answer but yet to find it x

I have now lost 8kg since starting HRT.Has anyone else had weight loss?

Is it a symptom that I should enjoy now because it will cease soon?

And yes I did need to loose it!

4 months on HRT.

All my physical symptoms are now gone but I am still struggling a little with the anxiety but I am told that will not go until about 7-10 months.

being in lock down completely in NZ is a little unsettling.

I still have not had my appetite improve and have now dropped 10kgs since starting HRT without even trying.Food just does not register with me I have to make myself eat it's odd after being totally run by food.🌹

hi penelope

yes all my other test are normal thyroid zinc iron ferritin B12

i just don't understand my dermatologist thinks that starting estrogen has triggered telegen effluvium or it the gel i?m taking not suiting me

i stopped hrt for 9 weeks and shedding stopped

so i have now started taking progesterone utrogestan as i wasn't getting on with unopposed estrogen but also the counteract estrogen and balance things including hair shedding x
it's not as bad the shedding but have side effects from progesterone now after 10 weeks on it mainly dryer eyes mouth and possibly vagina as getting this sticky yet watery discharge and have read on the side effects that it can cause urinary problems and wondered whether it's making me leak
i?m contemplating sacking this gel and P off and starting again on a patch . maybe i?m now missing tesosterone as my levels are low . i have just upped estrogen to 2.5 pumps as i did try utro every other night but notice my mood start up and down and was angry i feel more chilled on P and a few hot flushes there when it was estrogen only day . if his dosent work in stopping and will start again on patch
