Has anyone else had thrush and uti since having a mirena coil fitted . I seem to have developed both after having my coil fitted 6 weeks ago. I had a swap done for thrush and a sample tested for UTI and it came back as thrush and UTI . I am sure this is linked as I hardly ever get them in years until now . Any ways you have to prevent these ? I am on probiotics and take a B vitamins .

Is it thrush or dryness?
Ask your health practitioner to have a look?
The whole body may become dry as oestrogen levels drop off, including the vagina: inside and out. Do read the threads on vaginal atrophy. Make notes.
In the meantime ask your Nurse Practitioner or GP for either 'vagifem' or 'ovestin'. The sooner you get treatment for that localised area the better. VA can mimic urinary tract infection-type symptoms really well. If you are asked for urine sample, make sure that it is sent to a Lab..

Hi CLKD
I should have put in my post had both diagnosed with swab and urine sample done at hospital so it definitely is thrush and UTI .

Bugga ........... ;D appropriate ABs then? I perhaps should have read your thread but was in a hurry :D
Get some vaginal atrophy treatment it won't do any harm and may help settle repeated symptoms.
Could be the change of hormones - I had thrush when I stopped The Pill - remember the itchying high up really well and it happened again after emergency surgery so after if I had to go into Hospital, I began LIVE yoghurt from a spoon to help. LIVE Greek yoghurt applied into the vagina helps too, cooling at the very least ;-)

I updated my post now so don't worry you did read it correct . I use Yes moisturing cream so that helps me with the VA.
