Title: Mirena in peri - experiences please
Post by: sheila99 on November 14, 2019, 10:06:54 AM
Anyone using mirena in peri what is your experience of bleeding? Does it come unexpectedly or only when you would expect it? How long did it take before you stopped bleeding or do you still get it?
I don't carry protection except when I'm expecting a bleed so I don't want to use something that might lead to bleeding unexpectedly. Currently on gel/utro sequi regime but get tired on utro.

Hi....
I had the mirena put in 3 weeks ago, I had been using Oestrogel/Utrogestan for the last 4 months but my bleeds were getting more painful.
I had the mirena about 20 years ago between children and found that my periods disappeared completely so hoping for the same again.
After having it put in I had a little discharge for a few days and then my period arrived on time, my period normally lasts around 4 days but it's just tailing off now and it's been 8 days.
Cramp/pain wise it's been better than the Utrogestan phase and not as heavy. It's early days as I know it can take several months to settle down but hoping for the same result as last time.

That's interesting, I didn't know they could disappear completely during 'normal' years. I think I'm getting towards the end of peri anyway so I might give it a go soon.

Hi, I had the mirena fitted in May due to heavier and more frequent periods, which Oestrogel/utrogestan weren't helping.  My first period I bled for almost three weeks, but only lightly.  I haven't had a period since.  It's been fantastic.
