Hi all.
Is joint pain part of peri?
My ankles and my knees boy oh boy.
Tried to put my leg boots on this morning- what a palaver!
Pulling, pushing , stomping etc and wow my ankles just would not comply.
They don't hurt at rest but slightest effort/ exertion- they are clicking and ‘weak' and stiff
Grrrrr
On a huge dose of HRT- quite a new symptom- if it is- it might be something totally unrelated.

Yep. It can be. As oestrogen levels drop off muscles may become lax = aches and pains.
Does over the counter pain relief help?
-
Yes, but I have diclofenac and that really sorts it out, but I don't want to swallow that all the time.
They are more ‘non compliant ‘ and stiff than unbearable pain.
The hrt (5mgs of Oestrogen!) should be sorting that I thought.
That's why i'm Wondering if related at all.

Keep an eye on it - I put joint stiffness down to the menopause until I became almost immobile - turns out I have some kind of autoimmune arthritis.

Hi Dororthy
Might you be able to advise how you were diagnosed? I am find it very similar, but so far all regular tests are negative and my legs are getting more and more painful. CRP (inflammation) levels have previously been high.
Thanks

My GP picked up on it - possibly because one of the nurses in the surgery has recently been diagnosed with the same type. If you're not getting anywhere with your GP and think it is more than meno/age-related stiffness, I'd ask for a referral to rheumatology. You might also find https://www.versusarthritis.org/ a helpful starting point.

Hi nairncat,
Yep, I used to have highish crp's. GP not that interested.
After a 4 yr diagnosis of ‘gastris/IBS , a serious bout of pain , I requested a scan ;turns out a rancid gall bladder full of stones . Had it out and CRP now negligible- funny that.
I am very angry still that I had to self diagnose- maybe that's why they are being so compliant over my far out HRT regimen.......
So I know that it is not caused by an ‘inflammatory ‘ disorder.
I refuse to accept that this might be my new normal..............
