Hi Everyone
This is my first message on here, I have been reading many of your messages and it makes me feel a little bit better knowing that I'm not the only one feeling like we feel
I am 53 and have been on HRT patches for nearly a year and they do make me feel more human after feeling very low, mood swings, not to bad with the flushes but had a few, terrible heart palpatations, aching joints to name but a few. The past few months though I have been getting pain around by rib cage on and off (which the doc thought it may be my gallbladder) plus indigestion and now this week pain around my back and lower abdomen
I have a Mirena Coil and I also have fibroids but the doc thought that these would start to shrink once on HRT, does anyone else have the some feeling/problems
But I do have to say that since going on HRT it has helped - can't wait for the whole menopause process to end - and I know from reading all your messages that some of you suffer a lot more

Hi SV66 and welcome!
When you started on HRT were you still peri or postmenopausal? If you're still perimenopausal maybe the symptoms you're experiencing now are due to oestrogen fluctuations. Maybe you need to tweak the patches dose. Perimenopause roller coaster is hard to control. Heart palpitations and rib cage pain are very common symptoms of acid reflux, which can be worsened by hormonal fluctuations. The pain around your back and lower abdomen could be related to the fibroids, they do shrink but it's a long process, you're 53 so probably still having the last surges of ovarian function. Me again, I have to say it's very hard to understand :(
Especially when I'm on the coil so I don't really bleed - although about 4 months ago I had a few bleeds but very light, not had any since but obviously the Mirena stops the bleeding so it's hard to know at what point you are at with the menopause whether its peri or not :(
