I'm thinking of going to a specialist. Any advice? Thanks x

Hi - I was referred to Kalvani Lingham at the Nuffield Derby. She was brilliant. Very through and she recommended the Mirena coil and estrogen patches which so far 4 months in is working well.

Scrubdub did your go refer you? I have a blood test next Mon but thinking of self referring as sick of feeling not right. Are my Estovel patches too weak? It's hard to know what to do and in the meantime you feel like you are going crazy! X

Hi- yes my GP referred me but I was seen very quickly. We had a discussion of trying a long cycle with cyclogest pessaries for 2 weeks every 3 months with estrogen patches or the Mirena coil and patches. We decided that the latter was the thing to go for because of my age (44) .I had the coil fitted under GA-I saw her post coil fitting and I have to go back in 5 years to have the mirena replaced but she said I can see her if there are any problems-so far so good
Her clinic is on a Friday afternoon and the consultant fee is about £200.She also works out of Queens Hospital Burton on the NHS and Privately too. I do know there is a menopause clinic at Derby Royal but the waiting list is very long.

There's a NHS menopause clininc in Birmingahm. Your GP needs to refer you. I got an appointment in about 4 weeks but I suspect the waiting time may now be longer as my follow up appointment keeps getting put back.

Thanks Scrubdub and Shropshire lass xx

I have an appointment with the complex menopause clinic at LRI in December. Might be worth a punt. X

Traci do you mind me asking what has led you to go to a specialist? Thanks x
-
Estrodrial intolerance so I've been referred as a complex case. Doctor doesn't know what to do with me!

How old are you Traci and if you don't mind telling me, what are your symptoms? X

I'm 57, my side effects to the HRT were bloating and gastric problems along with palpitations. Just on Vagifem now but still have the same symptons. :(
