Title: Does this sound like Vaginal Atrophy?
Post by: lizzog on September 13, 2019, 11:54:24 AM
Not sure what's going on but last few days feeling like I'm starting. Dull ache and niggly pains in lower abdomen, urgency to wee and stress incontinence when I was running (never happened before and it was
No fun).
I've had no burning when I wee but have streaks of blood when I wipe.
Got Dr appointment for two weeks time  ::) by which time I'll probably be ok grrrr
I've had this before about two years ago and seem to think she gave me some pessaries or something.
I'm on Oestrogel and have a Mirena.
Any ideas?

Maybe ask for vaginal atrophy treatment in addition to what you are using.  It is important to keep the whole area moist and atrophy treatment will plump up the vaginal area - the idea is to use 'ovestin' or 'vagifem' every night for 2 weeks then 'as necessary', but no less than twice a week.

I would ring the surgery to ask for a prescription so that in 2 weeks' time you have an idea as to if it's working.  We have several bladder and atrophy threads to browse through ;-)

Thanks CLKD.  I will give it a go and see if it improves things before I see my GP, but didn't want to do so if it was something else.  I don't think its a UTI as I've had them before and this is very different.

There are no free appointments for two weeks so I doubt I'd be seen.  I'll give them a go, but will try the pessaries tonight as I've still got loads of them and they are Vagifem as I suspected.

Could you not make an appt.  :-\ which could be cancelled nearer the time?

Do a 2 week loading then.  Make sure that the vaginal area is lubricated inside and out too.  I use KY Jelly.

I think Sammiejane this has been covered in recent days - put it into the search box and see what pops up?

Hi, that sounds like a uti, might be a different one from before, or might Express itself differently these days. Don't leave it two weeks if you value your kidneys, because if it's a uti you don't actually know how long you've had it. Pharmacist. Water and cranberry juice.

Hope it gets better soon.
