Title: Beta blockers
Post by: Bluebell on September 07, 2019, 08:00:58 PM

Hi ladies, needing some advice. I suffer from random palpitations/heart flutters. I'm 6 years post menopausal and I've had all the various tests and it's just down to hormones. When I get them I usually take Proprananol 10mgs.
However the Doctor said I could try Bisoporol 1.25mgs and take one everyday whether I have palpitations or not.  I've tried this and have taken 8 so far but I'm feeling totally exhausted. I have low blood pressure and obviously this is making it even lower.
I've decided I want to go back to taking the other ones as and when - has anyone just stopped taking them? 😳

It's normally recommended to come off betablockers slowly but i had to stop taking Atenolol straight away when i found out i was expecting a new arrival!
Not seen Bisoporal, would you be able to break them in half?

Thanks for replyingTinkerbell.
I've only taken 8 of them so far -  so I think I'll be fine just to stop them. 😉🙏🏽

I have used Propanolol since 2002 - initially 80mg 3 times a day then down to 40mg daily, then due to early morning headaches I cut it to 20mg at night.  For anxiety surges.

BBs are no longer prescribed to athletes.

Hello McKay Girl.

Random remarks occasionally pop up lol!

Can I ask,  do you use the magnesium spray for  under the tongue or was it one that goes on the skin? I was also given beta blockers for palpitations and found them ineffective so an alternative that works would be great.

Take care.

K.

BBs slow the system down so pro-sport people are no longer allowed them which means that they work for most people ;-)

BBs slow down the heart rate ............ so should ease palpitations.  I take Propranolol every night as prescribed, maybe try that to ease your symptoms?
