Title: Cool Article on How to Choose Best Birth Control
Post by: flyingsquirrel on September 04, 2019, 11:54:52 PM
Some time ago, I found a great article comparing different progestin types in birth control, and which birth control to use depending on which symptoms you are feeling.  Here it is:

https://www.wdxcyber.com/ncontr13.htm (https://www.wdxcyber.com/ncontr13.htm)

Note there are four pages (see links to each page on the bottom).  Page 2 lists different example birth control types and their estradiol does, progestin type, and progestin does.  Page 3 compares the different progestin potencies and makes recommendations based on how you're feeling on your current birth control.

This is how I figured out that my OBGYN nurse practitioner gave me the most potent progestin on my last birth control pack, when she said she was giving me a type that was supposed to make me feel as though I had more estradiol.  Either she doesn't know what she's doing, or....?  Anyway, I'm going to use this table to push her to give me norethindrone at 0.4 or 0.5mg for the next round.

I hope this article makes for an interesting discussion with your doctor.
