Hi ladies, thought I’d start this thread to chat about our different types of fitness..
Today I did a short walk, only 20mins and really not enough.. need to do more this week ahead.. x
-
Usually go a walk or out on bikes but not felt great today so no exercise, weather bit rubbish too. OH found my skipping ropes in the shed! I had hunted high & low for them recently. Looking forward to Pilates tomorrow night!
-
Nothing! Sat on my arse all day...I've taken the day of rest quite literally today! 😄
Not bad considering I'm always on the go......I did walk the dog earlier...🤷♀️
-
Gardening. Gardening. More ...........
-
Mucked out a sheep shed, 🐑🐏💩now I need a new back. And I've found the perfect solution for mood swings, a chest of drawers and a lump hammer is very satisfying...
-
;D. oh that poor set of drawers, was there no hope to get it re/up-cycled :-\
I don't mind mucking out ;)
-
It's spent the last 30 years with the middle drawer screwed in to stop the sides bulging out and the drawers falling through so definitely past it's best. Will recycle it as fire lighting material! And I can lend you a shovel anytime... I prefer mucking out to cleaning the house.
-
So do I ;D - I spend all day in the garden even if the house is a TIP! One can see results with mucking out, gardening .........
I have a tread mill - free to a good home ;-)
-
Great idea for a thread Jari! Yesterday I went for a lovely coastal walk but only about 4 miles - enough though....not sure what's planned for today as my fitness classes are not on this week and also going away too.
Hurdity x

That sounds like a good sleep Teresa! Very refreshing. I've found that really dark room helps too and not eating too late. My bedroom lets in some light so I'm going to try eye shades.
Up and down stairs sounds like good activity and walking to work! 👍 keep posted how the classes go. X
I just did an hour very brisk walk. Feels good. Since meno symptoms started a couple of years ago, I've found I sweat a lot more, which I actually like, as it feels like sweating out toxins, like being in a sauna! :)
I've started this week with aiming to drink 2litres of water a day. I have 750ml bottles filled with tap water in fridge to measure it and almost one down at the mo.. 👍 x
-
Have a lovely holiday Hurdity....x
-
...... more gardening. Then read the other exercise thread, worn out now ;)
-
Thanks Hurdity, have a good hol!
CLKD.
I'm on my second bottle of water and realising I definitely haven't been drinking anywhere near 2litres a day. I know we get some fluid through food, but I think we're still meant to drink 2litres of water a day, especially if working out... i will do it all this week and see how it goes.. x
-
Drinking too much can cause death. If the urine is straw coloured it's OK: lighter, drinking too much, dark - not enough. One sweats when hot, not to disperse fluids which goes out via the kidneys into urine ;-)
I'm going to walk upstairs for my bath - does that count? Also, rubbing down with a warm towel .......... little steps?
-
Yes, I think 2 litres of water a day is a good aim. It feels about right for me. Wee is a good colour! :)
Not sure walking up to your bath counts CLKD, but it's a good thought. ;)
-
Yet when you go ocean sailing you take 2 litres per person for day and that has to be used for drinking, cooking and washing. Not drinking enough is definitely bad for you but too much of anything can be detrimental too. Humans and other animals are good at self-regulating, unless something is wrong you will feel thirsty.
-
Good point Sheila. Rations in a compact space makes sense.
I drank 1 3/4 litres water yesterday, aswell as coffee..
Feels about right for me, but I did do an hour of very brisk walking and felt quite thirsty after that.
Off again for another hour brisk walking, might add 10mins today. 👍
-
Not a lot - yet :D
-
Hi Teresa, :). Well done with the class and good for you for doing it after a bad night sleep.
I hope your hip settles soon and that you get a good sleep tonight! X
-
More gardening.
-
Lots of very vigorous hoovering (!) including heaving furniture and going down on hands and knees to get under beds! Not really fitness but using lots of energy (I don't do it very often! ::) )
Thanks Jari and jillydoll - well sort of a holiday - long w/e and family stuff....
Hurdity x
-
1 hr 1/2 brisk walking in this lovely breezy sunny day. :)
-
Unscheduled run, not easy in boots. Walking the dogs when the heavens opened. I'm still damp :(
-
boiling the kettle for Lemsip and working the remote control!! ;D
-
Did an hour on cross trainer,5 mins of sit ups,5 mins of stretches and 5 mins of weights,I sound so fit don't I? ;D then collapsed on sofa
-
Did you do all that with the curtains closed ?
How's the cold Foxy?
Short bursts of walks across a field
-
You're damned right I do ;D
-
Damn! can't creep up to watch then .........
-
It would make you weep clkd
-
-
Better luck on today's dog walk Sheila! :)
Get well soon Foxy!
Jaypo... cross trainer sounds great and all the extras. Wow! Makes my brisk walking sound very boring.
I think Jane Fonda leggings should make a comeback!! I'm sure I've got one of her workout videos somewhere, trouble is no video player. 😂
-
Oh yes jari, that's what I wear with the swimsuit on top and the rear end of it up between my butt cheeks 😆😂😆😂 people at Tesco give me funny looks mind you ;D
-
I can imagine! 😆
I was meaning the leg warmers. I actually used to wear them in my leotard doing that Jane Fonda workout tape. I wish I still had a video player.
😂
I would close the curtains for sure. 😂
-
Omg leg warmers,I had a pair too, thought we were the bees knees in those, oooooowwww cringe, I also crimped my hair nooooooooooooooo😆😂🤣 mind you, that's given me more ideas how to dress to go running,I'm gonna look stunning 🏃🏼♀️😆
-
Not a lot :-\
-
Walked to my doc appointment and shopping after, round trip 2 hours, but just out and about. Didn't build up a sweat...
-
Daughter and I just walked 5 miles with our 3 dogs,I,unfortunately DID work up a sweat 😓
-
I had 2 pairs of leg warmers, mint green and pink (stylish!!) Another lazy day, sleeping and was 3pm before I had the energy to shower! Felt better after though. Heading to bed shortly, Nytol worked a treat lastnight ;)
-
I got dressed, that's my workout... you wanna try and get skinny jeans on! 😆
I've seen her (Jaypo) CLKD, arms n legs everywhere....working up a sweat, and that's just getting out of her leotard....it was jammed somewhere! 🤣😂🤣😂
-
The Spanx are worse,by the time you get them on,you've lost half a stone 😳😳
-
:boobs: Anyone else do that while wriggling into Spanx? ::)
-
I usually end up rolling off the bed and land on the floor, they would be difficult to put on to a barbie doll😳
-
1 hr 1/2 brisk walking. (Not in spanx) !! 😂
-
Carried 2 x 2 gallon watering cans from the tap 2 one end of the garden to the other - 5 times. Carried 1 x 3 gallon can from the tank to the other end of the garden
............
Stopped for a cuppa now.
-
Well done CLKD. 👍 I'm in the garden too. Hacking down a bay leaf tree that's grown out of control.. x
-
I have done more carrying and watering after a break. We have quite a large garden so it's about 40 steps there and back ;-).
-
Watering?? It's two whole days since it rained and it's due again tomorrow... Or buy a hosepipe? I need a doggie chastity belt. Lovely day but I'm grounded as pup is on heat.
-
Nice brisk walk with OH. x
-
We haven't had rain for nearly a week. [I reread the weather thread and it was on the 3rd, overnight ::)]. The hose pipe doesn't reach those plants and some need rain water only. Hence the watering cans.
Bitch in heat - we used to drive ours away from the village to fields miles from anywhere. She would pee at every foot fall, like "I'm here, come and get me" :D. There are a few days when they will mate - you'll know when the local dogs arrive ;-).
-
Lucky you, we have too much rain :(. Load of straw came Friday evening, wet by morning. Dried out enough to wrap today before it gets wet again tomorrow. Too many footpaths round here, on a nice day at the weekend it's hard to find somewhere without a dog walker.
What plants can't have tap water? Only tough plants survive in my garden!
-
Day trip to see Italian mosaics in Ravenna and walked over 8 miles in total.
-
Many plants - bilberries, heathers, camellias ....... mainly plants that exist on peat in the wild. Everything benefits from rain water rather than from the tap. How did the straw arrive, not covered then?
-
A bit like me CLKD...I only mate every few days, once every six months! 🤣😂
-
I got out of bed and into a warm bath: does that count this early ? ;)
-
1 hour brisk walk..
-
More carrying of watering cans yesterday
I'm out of bed this morning ......... already watered the plants on the patio which took 10 mins and a gentle meander between the pots
Housework beckons >:(
-
Only a short walk with the dog today, went as an extra pair of hands to watch baby grandson in his swimming class, and picked up older grandson from school as it was his first full day in reception class.
-
Did he enjoy daska?
-
no exercise today but my cyling pants arrived!! ;D ;D
-
Tomorrow then you take them from the packet
Friday you fit them on
Sat. you take them off :whist:
Pottering
-
;D ;D. I've never had a pair before but decided it would be good idea after recently taking bike out the shed and going for a spin, ouch!!
-
Puts a different view point on Big Pants :D
-
;D ;D
-
2 hour walk yesterday, forgot to post. :)
Not sure today yet... :whip:
-
I bought some of those elasticated fitness bands and have been using those morning and evening for a few days. We used to use them when I went to yoga and I still had an old one. Got that out the other day and did a few arm stretches and suddenly it went BANG and I nearly died! it split in two. ;D
Since I got my new car I park as far away from everybody else in supermarket car parks in the hope that my car doesn't get dented. So that's all extra exercise.
Apart from lots of walking around two supermarkets and the market and then hauling tons of shopping in and out of the car, that's the only exercise I have done today.
-
Sounds good Penny, it all counts!! I'm off for my brisk walk.. 👍
-
Been for several brisk walks this week: round the Supermarket pushing a trolley, into and around the village - 2 miles x twice; up and down stairs doing housework .......... even changing the beds took energy :D
Will be doing gardening this week weather allowing. Watch this space ;-)
-
Optimist!
-
I've walked miles today must have walked for about 5 hours less a stop for lunch
Lanzalover x
-
Yep sheila99. :D
