Title: Bloating &weight gain
Post by: friend of lhasa apso on August 29, 2019, 01:21:10 PM
Help I feel like Mr Blobby!
My tummy is so huge today and don't feel very good about myself.
I've put on a stone since last Christmas and clothes don't look good on me anymore 😣
I thought hrt would help with this but seems to be making it worse!
Just wondering if anyone else on here takes water pills or something else to help with the bloating like rennies deflatine?

I hate it,especially my stomach too

Mine too, my bloating is out of control, trying to hide it is a full time job lol!

I tell myself it's all vanity, though that's true and we shouldn't pay it any attention to it we still do, partly bcz the uncomfortable feeling of being bloated won't quit, so it on your mind all the time.

It isn't just the weight gain though,i think it makes me feel lethargic, and can't be bothered with anything
I am back on livial, after trying Evoral Conti, but was losing hair on it, it's a shame i had to come off it, because it did give me more energy,i feel like going to sleep as soon as i sit down on the livial
I am hesitating to go back to the Dr though at this time because of the shortages

Hi.  I have put on a bit of weight, but my main problem is bloating around my tummy, which is dreadful
Have tried to avoid the usual suspects, but my sugar hunger is something else.
Livial was one of the first hrt pills I tried, but immediately I had acne spots on my chin and did bloat around my stomach, so switched to the Oestogel + Utro system, which was OK at first.
Now I seem to have a hair thinning situation.
I am aware some of these probs are due to the natural ageing process - inevitable, and we have coping strategies for these - but some of it must be down to the hrt I am on.
My sister 'sailed through' meno  >:( and at 60, no hrt or other meds, has lost weight, no spots and a full head of thick hair.l
Please will someone tell me where I am going wrong?  :'(

Livial made me feel exhausted and terrible acne but no weight gain or hair loss.  Just use local hrt ovestin now but that has made bit of weight gain.

SuzySunday,i am seriously thinking of going off HRT altogether
I was  on livial for a long time years ago and was fine on it, but i hardly feel like doing much, no wonder i have put so much weight on,
I have one of my sons staying with me for a few weeks, who almost lives on takeaways,so of course i have had some too, which hasn't helped either,
When he goes home i will be on  a diet i think,i usually have problems putting weight on, never been this weight ever :o
I have 4 tablets left so going to leave them off after that, see if it helps,

Yes they are tough decisions regarding hrt.  I have to use something to deal with vaginal atrophy and so far local ovestin seems the best option.

I was on FemSeven Conti until a few months ago and since changing to Evorel my stomach has ballooned. Jeans won't zip up and my muffin top hangs over the waistband. My diet hasn't changed and I still walk a lot so I'm putting it all down to the Evorel. Roll on big jumper weather, although I think I may try some water retention pills 😢

I'm trying rennies deflatine but am going to ask doc for some pills for water retention also as my fingers swell and also ankles when on feet too long .
I'm just concerned though there's something else going on .
Not sure what to do as bloating and acid reflux insomnia and nausea and extreme fatigue before hrt ?  But still bloating with hrt .Maybe need to increase hrt. It's a mine field isn't it

Hi Linz57

Did this bloating settle for you?

Interested to know as I’m on my first month of everol and feel really rounded in the tummy x
Thanks

Hi all, I can relate to some of this. I'm 52 and am post-menopausal but I still have problems.
The biggest of these problems are bloating and weight gain. I see so many differing opinions on exercise - some say do strength training, some say do lots of walking and yoga, others say to be careful because exercise after menopause can have the opposite effect of making you gain weight!
It really upsets me that I can't get into most of my jeans and trousers now but I also don't know what size I should be buying as I don't know if this is just a menopausal glitch that will pass once I find the right solution.
Has anyone tried any natural remedies or supplements for the bloating and/or weight gain? I'm not on HRT so I know these things aren't side effects of that.
There doesn't seem to be any consistency with the foods that set me off. Sometimes I'm okay with bread and sometimes I'm not. I just don't know what to do next.
Any personal experiences with good results here?

I’m at the end of month 2 on Evorel Sequi and the bloating I’ve suffered with a previous regime has returned. I’m almost afraid to eat. My GP has given me another prescription for 6 months but I’m tempted to go back and ask for FemSeven Conti. It was suggested as an alternative. I’d really love to hear from users of FemSeven to see what their experience of bloating is. Linz57 I’m assuming from your comment you didn’t have bloating on this before moving to Evorel?

Sorry for the late reply, I had occasional bloating before going on Evorel Conti but nothing as bad as this, it’s constant too.

Ok thanks, that’s useful to know. I’ve gone into half patches to see how it goes x

Please let us all know how you go on with the half patch, I’d be interested to hear. Hope it helps sort the bloating for you.

Will do. I’m also taking part in an experiment on the new Balance app set up by Dr Louise Newson. You have to eat ten different veg per week (2 per day) of various colours and types. It’s targeting bloating. I am definitely better although this week it’s not easy to tell as it’s withdrawal bleed week and I’ve had lots of cramp. Been on half patches since last Wednesday so five days in x

Hi NicolaJ

How are you getting on?

I'm at the end of my tether and about ready to rip off my patch  :'(

I am on month 5 (was on half patches for the first three months so this is my second month on full patches) Everol Sequi plus Vagifem.

I put on my first conti patch of the month yesterday and had to get up at 3am with cramping and constipation. Today stomach is so swollen I look about 5 months pregnant. I'm very low and some of my symptoms that had eased a bit on the vagifem and patches have now returned with a vengeance.

Tonight I now have a bad headache too and when talking I have struggled to string a sentence together and couldn't connect my brain and my words. I seem to be able to type now though.

I'm thoroughly fed up  :'(

I’ve just logged on to look for this issue.

I’ve just completed 2nd cycle of oestrogel 2 pumps and Utrogestan.  From around day 24 worse bloating (really big stomach), very low mood episodes, cognitive issues, weakness and lethargic (though I do have ME and also hypothyroidism).  Generally feeling crap (pardon my French).

Will this improve?  My GP isn’t very good regarding menopause or HRT so when three months review it’d be good to know if I need to change anything.  I asked if he’d check my thyroid after three months but he said it’s not needed .. I thought it was?

Hey Cookie
I’m now two months off the patches. I’ve given up on HRT as can’t find anything that doesn’t make me bloat terribly and I can’t cope with that. I’m  now on soya products, milk twice per day and the occasional soya supplement. I’ve stopped having hot flushes and am much calmer. I started taking Femarelle Recharge but was starting to bloat on that too (noted side effect) I’m feeling much better. Is stomach your biggest problem? Xx

Hi NJ

No my  stomach isn't my biggest problem but the unsightlyness of it and the upset tummy does really bother me.

My worst symptoms remain the same from before I started hrt.

My specialist has now changed me to everol 75 - so another increase in oestrogen and put me on Ultrogestan for my Progesterone. I stuck the new patch on on Friday evening but still feeling bloated today (Sunday) I'm due a period too, so time will tell.....

I keep praying for a regime to work for me. Have you tried all the possible options? Xxx

No, I gave up after three different types. I have a history of eating disorders and was getting so distressed about it so quit. The stress was worse than the hot flushes. Maybe there is something out there that wouldn’t cause me bloating but I just wasn’t prepared to put myself through it. Into week 3 of no flushes with soya milk so sticking with that for now. My GP insisted I had a blood test to rule out possible ovarian cancer which was fine. I had not even thought of that but when I reported this as my reason for quitting HRY they said I had to get it done. They’ve  been really good to be fair. I hope you find something that suits. It’s all such a puzzle to find what suits you xx

Awh NJ it sounds like you're doing the best thing for you just now. Hopefully you can manage your symptoms successfully.

My stomach is even bigger and firmer today - very uncomfortable not to mention unsightly! I'm hoping my period arrives tomorrow and relieves it!

Ladies so sorry you have the awful bloating, I’ve had this for nearly a year  :'( tried 3 different types of hrt femoston, patches & gel but nothing helped infact felt worse! I’ve been hrt free a month now but still suffer with awful pain & bloating. The last two mornings woke early with nausea & pain low down in public area not sure if ibs or period cramps?! I haven’t been able to do my jeans up for months! Can bloating really be so painful too? I’m just emotionally & physically exhausted.  I hope we can all find some relief soon  :'(

Yeah, still bloating here too.  I’ve had it before I started HRT so it’s been an ongoing battle for some years. It really gets me down at times. Hugs to you all xx
