Title: Has anybody made kefir?
Post by: Bobidy on August 28, 2019, 02:47:09 PM
Hi, I was just wondering if anybody makes their own kefir yoghurt?

I buy mine from Waitrose but it's £1.50 a pot and I'd like to try and make my own if possible.

If so could you let me know how.

Thanks x

Sorry - pressed send too soon!

You can buy the kefir grains from Amazon. They are not actually grains - they are blobs of bacteria or something (you can tell I'm not a scientist). You re-use them.

Mine was gross, so I buy it from Morrison's. I think my kitchen is too warm - I have an Aga. Anyway, I gave up on that idea very quickly.

I do love kefir as a product, just not the stuff I made  ;D

Hello Bobidy,

Yes I do, it used to be with milk but as I'm trying to go vegan, I am making it with water and muscovado sugar. If you'd like the recipe/method I can PM you.
