I was wondering what ladies find happens to their normal vaginal secretions post menopause if they are not on HRT?Do you have any at all?
I find now that I have on some days yellowish watery secretions rather than the dryness I was expecting to have. It can leave a faint yellowish appearance on underwear, but no discomfort or dryness otherwise. I am just thinking the altered PH that comes with being post menopause. It has no smell and no irritation and is very light yellow but not everyday either. Could this be the start of VA or just normal progression through menopause causing this with the altered PH? I have bought some Multi Gynae Actigel and might use that.

Good question. My underwear gets stained quicker than in previous years :sigh: so I have to buy knickers more often: not that I'm complaining ;-).
Would be embarrassed if anyone went through my wash box though :'( :-X even DH :-\
I use that stain remover (name escapes me) which sometimes helps. 4 me it's age related, I use 'ovestin' but that's isn't relevant. I wipe
well :-\

Machair, it could be the start of VA as a watery discharge is one of the symptoms. Never had it myself, but I think quite common with VA. If there is no odour or irritation I don't think the Multigyn will stop it. How about trying some local oestrogen? VA is a progressive condition as you probably know, so you could stop it in it's tracks so to speak?

It sounds very normal.

Dryness is a myth, some ladies myself included has the same discharge.
It's still vaginal atrophy & pretty common. Vagifem & HRT stopped mine.
Always get swabbed to rule anything else out.

Hello Machair,
Have you noticed any bits of mucus in the toilet after peeing? I have this on and off since menopause, urine tests showed leucocytes, mucus and sometimes opportunistic bacteria (no need of ABs), apparently caused by urine stasis, or incomplete bladder emptying.

Thank you MaryJane I will get a swab if it continues. Was yours like this just watery and yellow and was it there all the time or just at certain times?

Hi Machair
It definitely could be VA-related. I also had a yellowish watery discharge which got so bad that I was getting through several changes of underwear per day to keep comfortable - can't use panty liners as I find they irritate me. Mine certainly ended up being constant, but I don't know if it started off more intermittent. Vagifem sorted it out for me pretty quickly.
As Maryjane says, definitely a good idea to get swabbed just to rule out anything else.

I got a very wet discharge. I used to drip. :'( GP said something along the lines of 'we get different discharges at different times >:( It eventually went pale pink and I couldn't sit down.
Never happened again since I started using vagifem. ::)
