Title: Prickly mouth
Post by: kp64 on July 18, 2019, 06:06:30 PM
Hi Ladies,
I'm not sure if this would be post menopause but has anyone ever had a prickly mouth? My mouth feels slightly dry and rough but I have a prickly sensation as well and sometimes it feels like it's in my ears.  Bit anxious to be honest and I'm not sure if this is making it worse. Any advice would be appreciated.

What's in your toothpaste?  SLS can cause burning, 4 me chocolate, bananas, sugar, raspberries, strawberries reacts immediately.

Is it like pins and needles?

Hi CKLD,
Yes it's similar to that I suppose it's hard to explain, my ear is a bit painful as well don't know if that's just coincidence. I think I vaguely remember having something similar a few years ago after my Nan died I thought it might just be anxiety but it just won't budge. I've done salt water, alcohol free mouthwash but nothing has helped. The longer it goes in the more anxious I'm getting

Do you grind your teeth at night?

Could it be a nerve in your neck?  Maybe speak to a physio., one can self refer these days.  Or your dentist?

Anxiety can make symptoms weird  ::).  I have a strange feeling down the side of my face this evening ....... like a numbness but I can feel it  ::).  It'll be something else tomorrow.

..... and breath.  Gentle massage of the cheeks might help too.

Yes definitely think worrying about it makes it 10 times worse. I thought it might be Thrush just haggled again with salt water and my tongue is stinging. I hate getting anxious about every little thing if it's not one thing it's another.
Hopefully it will sort itself out I'm going for a weekend away in a couple of weeks so don't want to go away with this anxiety. Thanks for all your replies hope your feeling better tomorrow x

I've had a weird ENT problem for a few weeks now. No two days the same, so think my health anxiety is ramping things up. Someone told me that the pollen count is very high this summer, though l've never been a sufferer before.

Haven't been to the GP yet, keep putting it off as it seems quite a minor complaint somehow. I'm taking a hayfever tablet every day which, l think, is helping.

Hope things clear up for you soon.

If you google use NHS-linked sites ;-)

Don't go to the GP - have a chat with the local Pharmacist they have private rooms.  More time often.  They can check with manufacturers too as they are on a learning curve too.
