Title: Does Femoston help with anxiety?
Post by: BoilingKettle on July 01, 2019, 10:47:20 AM
Hi there,

I am new to the forum and in the full throws of menopause.

My GP proposed going on FEMOSTON but I wanted to check if FEMOSTON helps with really bad anxiety as this is the symptom
that is troubling me the most and the last thing I want is for the anxiety to get worse on FEMOSTON.

I get really bad anxietey in the mornings even on mornings where I have slept well the night before and I have been
managing to control the sweats/ sleep factor using a combination of other remedies.

In my earlier years I was put on the pill for heavy periods and it didnt suit me at all ( in terms of mood swings) and I tried
lots of different brands so I am really nervous about taking FEMOSTON or any HRT for that reason.

It would help me a lot if people could share their experience of how HRT has effected their anxietey levels.

Many thanks xo

I've been taking Femoston 1/10 for a year and a half and I feel a lot less anxious. I just feel a lot more chilled and can cope with flying/ London Underground/ lifts/ confined spaces much much easier than say two years ago when I'd actually avoid these things. I don't know if you relate to being anxious in these circumstances or not but I hope that helps x

Boilingkettle I've been on it a fortnight and would say it definitely helps with anxiety. For me it's had a sedative effect, I feel it has slightly anti-depressant properties without being an anti-depressant if that makes sense x

It's helped my anxiety too.( Femoston Conti)
Still get background anxiety, where it feels like it's just nagging to come out, but I've got my life back now. I can manage the little bit I still get....
It took a while to work for me though, lifted my mood and anger first, then everything else came after. It took probably about 8 months to get me where I am today, and that's by experimenting with upping and lowering the dose, I'm mostly on 2 mg now, and I'm ok except for the tiredness that comes with it....
All I can say is try it. You can always stop it and try another, although Femoston does have the most kindest progesterone in it. ......oh and  :welcomemm:  hope this helps...

Thanks so much Ladies,

this is really helpful to know. A close friend was on it last year and for the first 12 months all was good - this year she has had a lot
of probs which they now relate to being on it so am a bit wary... Normally like to try alternative remedies ( I take a high dose of fish oil)

The other thing that is putting me off is that I have been period free since the end of 17.. and I don't miss them as suffered greatly.. the
thought of having a period again is not floating my boat!!!

Hi BoilingKettle.
As you are post meno, your last period was end of 2017?....then you need Femoston Conti.
As long as you still have your womb.
You won't have a period with the Conti, you take it continuously.
Granted, you may get breakthrough bleeding which is common within the first 6 months or so, but it should settle down again, not everyone gets that though, so you may not.
The only problem I had with it was that I needed to higher my dose. Which is why I'm on 2mg now. I started off on the 0.5mg, which as you've guessed just wasn't enough for me.
