Hi, I'm now contemplating going down the Livial route, mainly because I've tried a fair few HRT treatments and all seem to have chronic side effects (for me). :( So I was wondering how folk are getting on with this treatment? I have VA, hot flushes, low libido with the chance of Osteoprosis developing in the future. I'm running out of options so this may be the last chance saloon for me and HRT. :-\ :'(

I tried this Tracy and to be honest I felt much calmer on it but then I had the most awful muscle aches with it and flushes were bad to so I came off it but give it a try it could work for you ?

Hi Anjia, were you on it for very long?
-
I think I lasted about 8 weeks but then the muscle aches got to much as soon as I stopped they went away.
-
I was on Livial a few years ago and had no real problems I also had the mirena at the same time
-
I was on livial for 18 months and it also gave me muscle and joint ache and tired. Good for libido and stopping flushes. Came off it as I got post meno bleeding from it causing womb lining thickening. It stopped when I came off it.
-
Muscle aches all over? Still don't know whether this is worth punt.. :(
-
It's worth a try for a while. Everyone reacts differently. Paula here was on it for a few years no problems.

Hi Tracey,
I have been on Tibolone for nearly a year and it has been amazing for me. No more anxiety/low mood, my memory has improved and my libido. I have tried several different HRT preparations but this is by far the best, the only negative is that I think it may be responsible for me putting on a bit of weight.
I hope it works as well for you.
-
Thank you Jacqueline, I hope so too. :)
-
It's definitely worth a try, as it can work wonders, which I was hoping for but personally it didn't work for me.

Could I be bold enough to ask why not?

Yes of course. I'm in surgical menopause, so I was taking it for low libido, energy, aches & pains etc. before being prescribed Testosterone. My GP was disappointed it hadn't worked & once my blood results - to check testosterone levels - were back they were virtually non-existent. As Tibolone is broken down by the body to make the hormones there is not enough to help with what testosterone does in the body - if that all makes sense! So I have now just started Testosterone and hoping that in a few months it will make a difference - I'm under no illusions that it may not work, so fingers crossed.

Argh I see, thank you for the insight and good luck with the testosterone! X

Well here goes, I'm going to start on Livial today! Utrogestan just aint my bag and I can't get a Mirena coil fitted until October. :( Can I ask what is the best time of the day to take it? Having read about the potential drowsiness etc.
I'll keep a weekly update..

I was on livial for the last 18 months and previously for a few years, can't exactly remember how long now, but i loved it, i wasn't sleeping very well and it seemed to help, but then i was dozing off in the daytime, but not neccessarily connected with livial
My Dr has switched me to patches, but i am not happy with them and after this 3 month trial i am going to ask him to put me back on livial
And yes will also give you your libido back,
Google reviews, everyone i read about on livial wants to stay on it forever,so do i
Edited, to say i didn't put weight on with it either
-
That's great Jaycee it just didn't do anything for me much happier back on patches 100mg everol & testosterone.
-
Well first day on Livial, took dogs out for a walk thus evening and had a major dizzy episode, everything spinning round. Is this normal with these tablets? I've never suffered with dizziness before. Also feel a bit spaced out... :(
-
*Yorkshiregirl* which Evoral are you on? assuming Evoral and seperate testosterone
The patches i am on are Evoral Conti, but i have had the runs on and off since going on them
Happened again tonight, cant understand why, buy i feel bloated and had some headaches, which i only ever get if i have sinus problems, on the 2nd month now
-
*Tracey E* I didn't have any dizzy spells as far as can remember, could it just be because of the heat maybe? Im sure you will be fine, but yes it is scary when something happens you are not used to
Let us know how you get on

Well Jaycee it's early days, I shall carry on regardless and see how I fair over the next few days. I'll keep you posted...

Hope it settles down for you, if you google Tibilone reviews the women in those are raving about it
-
Some women have experienced dizzyness and feeling lightheaded while on Livial. It seems to be a common side-effect at first for some. If you search for Livial/Tibolone in Menopause matters on this website you can read more experiences.

Will this get better with time? Debating taking half a tablet today instead..

I came off livial as it caused womb lining thickening and bleeding. It was good for libido and flushes but I felt exhausted on it . After using local hrt, ovestin since and nothing else, I am pleasantly surprised that my libido is the same as when on tibolone. Ovestin does not help with flushes but I am willing to put up with them.
-
That sounds good SuzySunday,by local oestrogen do you mean works the same as vagifem, you are on no patches etc?

Forgot to put Everol first so I'm on Everol 100mg and Testogel - I had a total hysterectomy
-
Yes that's right Jaycee, no patches. I use ovestin alternate nights for atrophy.
-
That sounds as if it is doing all you need it to do then without going on the patches Suzy

Tracey E, when are you taking the livial, i took mine at night, which might be better for you unless you are doing this already, but i never had any dizzyness or any side effects at all, until about 5-6 months ao when i started feeling tired or lethargic during, the day,
They are quite weak though i think,

I took mine at 10.30am in the morning, had my dizzy spell at 6.30pm at night so approx 9 1/2 hrs later. Maybe I should try it later in the day. It was quite a bad dizziness though..
-
I would try just before bed or even a bit earlier, to give them chance to kick in, so maybe you wont be affected by morning, but in any case i think the dizziness will wear off,
Good luck

I know from reading other posts, that ladies have played around with the timing of taking Tibolone, so definitely worth a try.
-
Hi ladies, I'm new to this so please bare with me?
I've been taking livial now for 9 months with no bleeding for about 4 years !
I tried other forms of hrt but none worked as well.
I've now had a brown light bleed for a week . Anyone had a similar experience?
Not sure if I should be worried.
No pain or other symptoms.

Thanks , that's what I thought.
Just to put it out there I found it best to take livial first thing in the morning, in case it did stop me sleeping as I sleep very badly anyway.
I'm sleeping better now though👍🏼

Bleeding can be one of the side effects of Tibolone so as Birdy says I would get it checked out as 9 months have elapsed since starting it and you want to know that your womb lining has not thickened. Don't be fobbed off - push for referral for a scan. Presumably you are post-menopausal?
