Is it possible to have a lot of symptoms of menopause, ie fatigue, aching joints, sweats, memory lapses etc. But still have period, although irregular. The fatigue just appears out of the blue, I mean just want to sit down and no energy!! 😳Sometime even when you are just out of bed you feel you could just go back in. I have under active thyroid have did for over 18 years but tests all came back fine for that! Don't know what next step is to do!!

Hi yes I have all those symptoms too and irregular periods which my doctor diagnosed me as been peri menopausal, I am 52 years old and also have under active thyroid, have had this since I was 19 though, I have just started on hrt patches I am on second month but can't say I have noticed much difference as yet but I am going to persevere as can take up to three months to start working x

Hi jools1x, it's really hard when you want to do anything as you just feel tired all the time. I had bloods done before for hormones and they came back normal. Can I ask what hrt you are on? X

Hi Pink68 & Jools1x, I also have under active thyroid and been on thyroxine for almost 20 years. I originally went to GP with flushes, sweats, insomnia & feeling overwhelmed. I thought early menopause (was 37yr at the time) but told no by GP following blood tests (which I now know are not reliable) then referred to Endocrinology who ccouldn't find anything other than a random raised histamine in my urine so sent to Immunology, again lots of weird & wonderful tests & trials of medications. Eventually discharged by Immunology, so desperate was thinking of going private to get answers then made a appointment which happened to be with a trainee GP, she was lovely and listened to all I had to say. She reassured me she would discuss it with her supervisior (senior GP in the practice) she phoned me back & said we think it's the menopause. After 3 years of this I was relieved to have an answer but also annoyed it had gone on so long & that I could have been on HRT for years before now (I'm 10 weeks in on Everol sequi 50 following GP discussing it with menopause specialist, he had started me on Fluoxetine first, has helped with flushes & definately mood & energy levels much better) especially given strong famiy history of osteoperosis.
I hope you both get improvement in your symptoms & start to feel normal again.

Hi foxylady, thst great news you have found some answers . I was offered everol sequi by on gp, then told by another that because my bloods came back normal that I shouldn't take it as didn't need it. So now I am even more confused . The fatigue is horrendous . My ferritin was low the last time but go didn't seem to bothered about it. The journey goes on to find answers . X

I am new to all this but have done alot of reading including on this forum & from what I understand the blood results in relation to peri menopause are useless as levels of FSH & LH vary from day to day. Peri menopause should be diagnosed based on the symptoms (I am still having regular periods). You should do some more reading up on the menopause including this site, Rockmymenopause is also good (there is a menopause diary you can print off & could fill in to help give an indication of the symptoms you are having). The more prepared you are the better you can then put across your point with GP. I would try a different GP (see if there is one who has a particular interest in women's health) or if there is a local menopause specialist/group etc you could contact for advice. Have you been anaemic before, re Ferritin being low?
My thoughts re the HRT were I have suffered for 3 years tried numerous things with no improvement, due to my age (41yr) the benefits outway the risks. I remember seeing something about there is a greater risk from being overweight in terms of breast cancer than from HRT (this might be different for those who have a famiy history though).

I used to get this with every period for the last two years of peri. It was like being hit with a brick. Totally drained and even walking was a struggle.
Luckly as soon as my periods stopped the fatigue went too.

Hi Pink68, I have the awful fatigue too. Since 2 years ago. It comes out of nowhere. If I am talking...whatever. Weird, it's not a tired fatigue, no yawning, but more of a full body shutdown weakness, mental exhaustion. My bloodwork is all normal except for my very high FSH, LH. My periods were irregular. The last real period I had was in Jan. I started HRT patch in March. I am 42. :-\

Sounds like peri menopause to me, especially if your cycles used to be regular and now aren't. I had your symptoms plus insomnia and anxiety in peri. Perhaps discuss hrt with your gp?

I am taking everol sequi which contains both everol 50 and everol Conti patches in the pack, I have been taking them for six weeks now so I'm expecting to see results fairly soon as not seen any change so far, xx

Thanks ladies for your replies . It's awful this memo stuff. X

Jools1x, I'm week 6 of Evorel Sequi as well. Not seen any improvements yet, possibly my physical symptoms are slightly worse ... I hope this is the 'getting used to it' phase. I really wanted HRT to help with my anxiety. I started ADs 11 weeks ago, but they have their own side effects >:( so I want to come off these as soon as I can.
We can PM each other to compare, if you like. I do that with another lady who started on the same AD at the same time as me.
Best, Pants. xx

Hi Ladies, it is everol sequi 50 I am on too, this is my tenth week. Last week I had 4 days of the best sleep I have had in years (still exhausted but def better), weekend was back to normal nightmare again, last night the best yet. I think the HRT is starting to work, not as flushy/sweaty at night and sleeping better. I'm hopeful I will keep seeing improvement in my sleep the more time passes.
