Title: Recent bloods, any advice or help appreciated
Post by: Jobo on May 09, 2019, 11:06:43 AM
I am still trying to fathom out why I don't feel well and although I have been told to increase my oestrogen levels by applying my daily amount of gel, which I have done, I still feel strange.  I know I need to give it time but not long after I apply the gel I feel anxious, a bit jittery sometimes and dizzy and off balance.  This can last for a few hours then tapers off.  I sometimes feel it affects my eye sight and I become sensitive to light.

Although I have had lots of blood tests including thyroid, kidney, liver, folic and B vits which are all normal.  I also feel a little depressed, am having not nice thoughts, and burst into tears last night for no reason whatsoever.

My recent bloods were:
Thyroid 15.0 – normal range 9.5 to 22.0
Oestrogen:
Folical 72-530
Midcycle – 234-1309
Post Meno – 118 PMOL/L
Lut Phase 204-786

This is what I was told over the phone, could anyone shed any light on what these could mean?
I am post meno and have been for 7 years, on HRT for approx. 6 different variations until I started Gel 2, years ago which was going well until recently.

I feel so silly sometimes asking these questions but I have no one to talk to about this that understands.  My mother can be quite brutal and friends who I don't see that often have no experience of this.  I don't want them to judge me and make an assumption that I am losing the plot, because that's exactly how I feel.

OH has been brilliant but I can't fully tell him or explain how I am feeling.  I rely on this site for so much and the knowledge people have on here.

Hi birdy
Thank you for your reply I've increased by 1/2 pump to 2 in total 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening.  I am trying to work out if perhaps the gel maybe contributing to my symptoms.  I feel terrible in the mornings always after I administer the gel for 3 hours minimum then a bit better in the afternoon, then after I apply again in the evening.  I'm convinced there is something more sinster going on but the doctors are saying not.  This is the worst I have felt in 7 years since it was confirmed I'm post meno.

Hi Birdy

Doctors seem to think it's all anxiety, not tried putting the 2 on in one dose the thought of that frightens me to death tbh.  I have a mirena for progesterone.

Jobo - I don't think they have actually given you your oestrogen reading!!  There is a reading for you thyroid function  (15 seems to be mid level) but the stuff about the oestrogen levels is very vague  - did you have blood tests at various stages in your cycle?
Oestrogen:
Folical 72-530
Midcycle – 234-1309
Post Meno – 118 PMOL/L
Lut Phase 204-786
Are these your actual readings? Why are they in a range rather specific readings? You need these explained to you by the doctor as I don't know why you getting readings at different times in the cycle if you are on HRT - I thought the oestrogen levels should be more consistent through the month unless you are early peri meno.

Omg thank you dancing girl!  This could be the answer to all my questions!  I thought the same hence why I put this post on.  Maybe these are not my actual results and just standard or something.  I've been convinced for some time that the reason for all my symptoms are to do with oestrogel and too much in one go!  If these are not my actual results then maybe I am using too much.

They are not mid cycle I'm post meno and have been for 7 years,  using oestrogel and mirena for progesterone.  Have had mirena for 3 years no periods for around 8 years.

I would be so lost without all you lovely ladies. Thank you

I think I might give the patch another go.  It might be easier than the gel.
