Hi, I'm 45 and had a total hysterectomy a couple of years ago and I'm currently on a very high dose of Premarin (2.5mg) which I have to adjust when the side effects become too much. I've tried other Estrogen HRT's but they made me very depressed so I've stuck with Premarin. Has anyone got any suggestions for other types to try?

Hi and welcome to MM Katybug
I would definitely try oestrogen patches( Estradot seems to be the most popular patch) or Oestrogel (sometimes called Oestrodose), as using oestrogen transdermally is usually better. Side effects can be greatly reduced and you can control dosage far better.

You might need some testosterone as you are quite young - worth asking your gynaecologist or menopause specialist about this.
HRT alone won't help low mood - you may need a range of strategies to keep the mood OK. Do try Mindfulness, a good exercise regime that works for you lifestyle and make sure you are getting enough vitamin D, Omega 3 and other feel good vitamins and minerals.
Keep us posted about you progress. DG x

Hi Katybug
I use evorel (50) and a good quality omega 3. I've had excellent results with this combo x

Katybug. Dancing girl mentioned testosterone if you have had ovaries removed it is actually recommended that you should be able to have it if you want it. .
You say other hrt has made you depressed do you mean because the dose wasnt high enough? What other ones have you tried?
