Im on sequential Bhrt. (Utrogestan 200mg and oestrogen gel, 2 pumps) I was put on it 3 months ago and started to feel so much better.
Now I feel utterly exhausted. I don't work but look after my teenage daughter who has MH issues and I go to college 1 day a week.
most days I struggle to walk the dogs and even today I've cancelled an eye test because I really don't have the energy to go.
I slept solidly for 8 hours last night and ive just had an hours nap.
I Take Vit D every day. Ive joined a gym to help my daughter with her MH and I can work out (lightly) but the next day I am floored.
I barely have proper periods ( just very slight breakthrough bleeding most days) and I constantly have a headache :'(
I don't know what to do. Im 45 but feel ready for retirement
-
Pink. I'm new on here and having my own issues. Don't think I can help much. But wanted to reach out and let you know that someone will come along with really helpful advice soon.
Right now - rest. Don't reach for the coffee or chocolate !!
Could you be suffering anxiety? Fatigue is a symptom of that. I know, that's where I am right now. I've started taking magnesium. B vitamins are supposed to be good for tiredness as well.
What about getting your thyroid and iron levels checked ?
-
Thanks Pants.
I don't have caffeine due to migraines and headaches.
I really cant face going back to the dr's again.
Im thinking I need some vitamins etc
-
But you won't know which unless your GP does appropriate blood tests. 2 years ago I would do 20 mins. weeding then have to sit. Still. For 2 hours. I simply couldn't move, read, watch TV. Low VitD levels :o and capsules helped, I am now aware of the symptoms.
We shouldn't blame everything on The Change. Some find keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use.
If you are bleeding slightly then your GP can do tests to check for anaemia! Maybe have a chat with the Practice Nurse, ours do well women/men clinics and if necessary, either call the GP into the appt. or get an appt. for the patient ASAP. We have 2 Nurses that can prescribe.
-
Definitely get your thyroid checked as well though - sleeping that much and still being exhausted is a classic sign of an under-active thyroid, and there's a link between Vitamin D deficiency and hypothyroidism too.

:thankyou: racjen - we are a Mine of Info. ;)

Hello Pinkjan.
I'm sorry to read that you are suffering. I realise that you don't want to go back to the GP but that may be the only way to get to the bottom of your problem.
I recently discovered that my serum ferritin ie iron stores were low and this can also cause fatigue. I think you need to talk to your doctor and hopefully get the appropriate treatment.
Wishing you well and keep us updated.
K.

Do not feel that you are 'wasting' the GPs time, it's what they are there for. Maybe make an appt with the Practice Nurse initially or a double one with the GP?
Do you dream? I wake feeling exhausted some mornings after a busy night :(
-
The past 3 years have been horrendously stressful.
2 of my children have had serious mh issues.
My adult son is better now but my teenage daughter is still unwell.
My diet isn't awful but could be better.
-
Hi Pinkjan. Please book an appointment either with a practice nurse in the first instance or your GP. You shouldn't be as tired as you are even with your worries. A blood test will soon tell you if you need help. It is never a waste of time when we need help
-
Thank you everyone.
I have an appointment booked on the 2nd April with the nurse.
what should I ask her to check
iron
thyroid
vit D
anything else?
Im also going to really try to help myself when I can. Reducing carbs does help me but I tend to eat toast when im so tired I cant think straight.
-
Well done. If you aren't allergic then almonds, cashews and walnuts are very good energy boosts
-
I love almonds... maybe too much! :P
-
Weirdly, since I booked an appointment I've felt better. 🤔
I've also started Floridax tablets today.
-
Pinkjan, I'm glad you're feeling better. Sometimes just taking action (as simple as making an appointment) can give us the lift we need. It's all about owning 'it' and taking positive action.
-
Pants.
I've just read your bio underneath your message to me.
How are you feeling after your op?
It reads so sadly 😢
Do you want to chat at all? X
-
Hey Pinkjan, the surgery was 8 weeks ago now, and it has been a difficult journey. At the moment I feel worse than I did a week or 2 after. In order if rubbishness - anxiety, aching bone and joints, no energy, disturbed sleep.
I've just started on ADs. The first lot I tried gave me terrible side effects. So far so good on the new stuff (day 3).
I just want to feel like me again.
-
Oh pants...
that's sounds tough, My dd15 had a few different Ad's and had awful side effects and had to stop taking them. I'm glad you have found one that is helping.
I hope you are being kind to yourself x
-
Feeling poo right now. Had a couple of big energy lows today. Trying to work through this one, without getting anxiety. Easier said than done.
-
can you rest today Pants? watch Netflix and take it easy?
-
Hey Pinkjan. Just read your post ... having been out to mow the front lawn !!! Going to do the back lawn in a mo ... which is easier (smaller and flat).
Then I'll probably hang out on the sofa. Need to do some work ... but that just requires my brain. I just need to engage it !!
How are you today ?
-
I'm ok. Quite tired but did 2 dog walks and a load of research for my essay.
I'm training to become a counsellor so have lots of essays to write for college. I have just watch a research video on YouTube and completely forgot most of it!!
-
Wow. I couldn't imagine going back to education or retraining at my age (46). I'm so impressed. Sorry you're feeling tired, but well done for taking the dog out.
I was looking at rescue dogs before my surgery. But right now, I don't think I have enough energy. I'm a responsible dog owner ... out in all weathers.
It makes me a little sad, because I know having a new dog would be so good for me. But you have to put the dog's needs first. Maybe later in the year.
Are you feeling a bit better compared you when you first posted ?
-
I love it Birdy.
I was made redundant in summer 2017 from a job that was slowly killing my brain.
I decided to do an intro course to see what it's like and loves it.
Did level 2 last year and will finish level 3 this summer.
Then I've got to decide what modality to continue with for the following 2 years to become qualified.
I've learnt so much but I do struggle to write my essays.
Pants. I do feel a bit better then when I wrote the original thread.
I've been using magnesium spray every day. Taking floridax and trying to choose better food.
Slept bad last night though. Too hot and dreamt I was writing my hw!!
-
Pinkjan, I'm glad you are feeling better than before. I slept badly again last night. I haven't slept through the night for 2 months now ... just had enough. Going to start a new thread on that topic. x
