I was wondering if lymecycline which has been prescribed for a really bad bout of rosacea could be affecting my Elleste Duet Conti hrt tablets. I was symptom free for 9 months but within the last 2 weeks the pains are back in my right hip & down my leg, excruciating as it was before. My joints feel as though they are going to start screaming at me as if they had done before. Should I stop taking this antibiotic?? 🤔🤔🤔

Maybe ring your local Pharmacist?

I take this for Rosacea and am on HRT but haven't had any problems with the two together. It is a low dose of antibiotic really. What caused your pains before?

Hi Rachelsquelch,
It is not a good idea to stop antibiotics until the end of the course. I would suggest making a further appointment with your GP and he may suggest something. Don't panic as it may be something easily remedied.

Rachelsquelch, you might be reacting to the antibiotics. I had to stop taking antibiotics (limecycline, then erythromycin) due to side effects just as you describe. This was when I was in my 20's and 30's and needed treatment for acne.

Hi Beaker. Just out of interest was the hip and leg pain on both sides?

Hi Taz it was on one side from what I can recall.

Hi Beaker, my pain is all one one side too. I have pain in my groin and all down the front of my thigh, right around the top crest of hip bone and right around the back. The pain also travels down the leg into the join of my foot. I described it today to my husband as like an elastic band that was being twisted tighter & tighter. It's so upsetting to go back to this pain after being pain free for 9 months. I have stopped taking the antibiotics and decided to get some cleanser & cream from a company called Kalme. I hope it works. I did some more research and have found that the antibiotics can have an effect on some women who take hrt. Maybe I'm just unlucky. Also I did have a really heavy cold for a while. Apparently that can also have an impact on some women. Again, maybe it's just me. I just want to be pain free again.

Sciatica?
-
Not sciatica, had xrays, scans etc the first time around. Spent a fortune on chiropractors etc but then just gave up as there was never any change. Pain was also in my el ow & my index finger. Had my bloods tested & my oestrogen was so so low. Two weeks after taking hrt tablets all symptoms had gone.

CLKD my dad used to call me rachelsquelch when I was a little girl 😬 It's just something that stuck, although now at 51 I still smile when I use it & think of him👍
