So emmerdale are doing a hysterectomy storyline.
Tonight rhona told diane she was having her ovaries removed ar the same time and was worried about crashing into menopause.
Diane said "dont worry about that, they can give you something for it they work wonders these days" hmmmm......
Will be interesting to see if they develop the storyline.
-
I know TC, I saw that too.
I will be waiting to see what happens next....
I hope they cover everything, and I mean everything, not like other programs where they just mention a few hot flushes and skim over the rest.....
Hopefully, one of the writers has been through it, and knows what they're on about.( I don't mean, hopefully as, I hope they've suffered, have experience, that's what I'm after..) lol
Poor Rhona.....xxx

It's not real life girls, and it's not meant to be. I gave up on soaps years ago as I found myself laughing at supposedly sad story lines, because they were so rediculous.
-
I think they do try much harder these days to be more realistic about the issues they cover. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but if they do it justice then a perhaps a few more women will head into menopause understanding it's more than a few hot flushes and that there are treatments available. Id like to see more of this sort of thing to get menopause out in the open, get conversations started and become less of a taboo. Drip drip effect every little helps
-
The amazing thing is that she only had to wait a couple of weeks from diagnosis of fibroids! I think that women who have fibroids will think that emergency hysterectomy and removal of ovaries is the only treatment available and that they will receive surgery within two weeks! Usually the soaps do research the medical conditions they cover but this storyline is laughable.

Some time last year Nicola was diagnosed with early menopause but that story line didn't seem to go any further, does any one remember seeing that. Also on a different note I don't like watching the teacher and Jacob story line.
-
I have so much going on in my Life that is typical of 'soap' story lines, that I've never needed to watch ;D and 1 can dip into Coronation Street once a year and still keep up ;-).
Maybe send the Producers a copy of Mary's book ???
-
Just interesting to see if they go anywhere with the meno storyline.
I gave up on all the other soaps years ago because of rubbish storylines. Some of them are downright insulting to viewers intelligence.
I'm on a thin thread with emmerdale.
I must admit Ive never been big TV watcher. Even when I was younger I preferred radio and my music but I now watch less TV than ever.
I wonder if emmerdale have done any research on this. Maybe they should take a look on here if they want to tell it like it is ;D

Are you my twin sister. ;D
-
Yes I'm the same.
Gave up on Eastenders years ago, and Corrie too.
Emmerdale is the only one I watch occasionally.
Xx
-
Send them an e-mail and make the suggestion ??? ;)
-
Always thought I had a secret twin :) :)
-
1 thing for the programme is the scenery ;)
-
Clkd I have a friend who lives up there. Her village is just like emmerdale,. I actually visited the set of emmerdale last time I was there. It's on a big estate.
-
Yorkshire is too wide for me to feel comfortable, there's too much of it ;D. Prefer Derbyshire. A) it's closer to home and b) more contained. ::)
-
I like it up there . It's very peaceful where she lives and she got an old Yorkshire stone listed house.
I've never been Derbyshire.
-
Pop into Castleton on your way to Yorkshire next time. Walk down Whinnets Pass ........ Bakewell lovely too.
We went to Whitby about 3 years ago. Lots of walking. Lots of views. Lovely fish and chips ;) and I expect, LAMBS up there right now :-*
-
My friends have told me they spend weekends in that area sometimes. It sounds lovely. I might factor it into my next visit. I havent been despite them asking since my op. I realy dont feel I could manage it at the moment.
Last time i went was for Manchester pride the year before. It was an amazing day.
We also went to the emmerdale studio tour in Leeds. Despite living there my friends have never watched emmerdale so it was funny seeing them in the wool pack.!!
-
Never been to Manchester. Apparently there's a button 'museum' for those taking textiles courses to access. Mum sent a lot of her buttons there.
-
So. Rhona keeps snapping at everyone, bursting into tears and saying "why is it so hot in here".
Yep. I think they are going with the menopause storyline :)
-
Im really pleased they've made it more than hot flushes so far. I hope the storyline continues 🤞🏻
-
I wish it was more realistic though. Surgery within ten days for fibroids which hadn't really bothered her and then removal of ovaries too which wouldn't usually be necessary? I know...I know...it's only a soap ;D

-
I'm hoping they show more than hot flushes...
She's already shouted at Pete....hehehe...
She looked like she could've committed murder last night.....
Wonder if they've seen my face lately? 🙀🙀 😃😃
-
Jilly. Shes had surgical meno. So I'm glad they showed the symptoms happen overnight but.....I hope she doesnt become the village's next serial killer 😈
-
Hahaha, TC, that would be good, fancy a job writing for them? 😄
I like Rhona....
-
Jilly. I will write it. I already have. Graham asks her why she isnt wearing a coat in winter... She kills him. Bob asks why she cant make up her mind which coffee she wants...she kills him. Pete asks for sex...she kills him. I think you can see how this is going. :)
-
TC.
Then after she's killed everyone, she can move onto Eastenders, Phils got it coming....
-
I will write it in jilly
He could say "cheer up darlin' it might never appen" and...she kills him :beat:
-
TC....
I'm a bit disappointed with your writing in emmerdale, come on girl, we want more on this Rhona's menopause.
She ent gone on that killing spree yet, what's going on? 😂🤣😂🤣
Don't tell me she's over it already.....😳🙄
-
Jilly. Sorry. I've dropped the ball with my scriptwriting
Rhona and her 5 minute menopaus!! after all the average gestation period on soaps is about 6 weeks, people meet, get married and divorced and marry someone else within 6 episodes. And the average prison sentence for murder is a month.
People regularly come back from the dead maybe rhona will grow her ovaries and womb back.? :)
-
Oh yeah, didn't think of that....😂
See, you've still got it, get that pen and paper out. 😂
-
I'm going to have her wet her knickers in the wool pack. And the cafe and the vets surgery and that stupid boat.
Then in going to replace all the McCain's products they crow bar into every scene in David's shop with tenna ladies. :)
-
Don't forget the vaginal moisturisers tc
-
Yea Robin. David will be opening a big box of "yes" and rhona will come in dancing about cos she's so itchy! I will give you writing credit Robin :o
-
-
Can't wait to find out what she's gonna do with that Maya..
Oh, plz do something with the one with all the money at the big house.
Can't remember her name....she gets on my wick....😂😂
-
Jilly. Its Kim Tate. Awful. I saw an interview with the actress and she said a fan hit her over the head with an umbrella!!!
Have you been to the ennerdale studio experience? I have a friend who made me go on the Sound of Music coach tour in Austria and she hates emmerdale so I started saying I've become a realy big fan and made her go to the studio tour with me as payback. I said I wanted it as my birthday present so she couldnt refuse.
I even made her go round the shop and I was ooo'ing and aaah'ing at the robron mugs. I bought a bag with David's shop on it and she had to walk round Leeds with me carrying it for the rest of the day. Hahaha.x
-
Yorkshire stone listed house - hopefully listing towards the hillside and not into the valley?
Now The Sound of Music I could do - if I didn't have anxiety, panic attacks, fear of flying, don't like ferries .......
-
Haha, I know someone like that too! 😂🤣😂🤣
That's it TC....Kim Tate, you've got to FINISH her off! Plz....get writing!!
No, Ive never been TC, bet it's lovely round that way....maybe one day...
-
CLKD. It's in Salzburg. Which is a lovely place but what did she make me do? Sit on a coach listening to the lonely goatherd on a loop!!!
Seriously it was great. They take you to all the film locations. Everyone on the coach was such a fan of the film But I actually love that I try to do it everywhere I go. Bit of trashy tourism and balance it out with a bit of culture The Mozart museum was well worth a visit x
-
Sounds lovely.
-
CLKD. Do you feel you miss travelling? I know I do
-
Yes. There are places in Europe that I would love to visit. But the raising anxiety levels really isn't worth it, I have trouble enough planning a UK holiday :'(
-
CLKD. Where would you like to go in Europe?
And Theresa and Jilly . Cant say I disagree about Kim Tate. But I tell you what. I wouldn't want a close up of my face in HD.
They could be a bit kinder to the actress with the close ups.
I accidentally switched my phone to selfie the other day and it was terrifying I can tell you.😲😲😲😲😲😲
-
;D
The Italian Lakes and Milan .......... even with the camper van, I can't get further than Scotland/Northumbria but that'll do as long as the anxiety stays away.
We were in Holmfirth 3 weeks prior to the Tour de France kick off, loved it and have been back several times. There's a hidden book shop up an alley, right up our street if tha gets my drift ;)
-
I get tha drift. :o
The Italian lakes are beautiful. But Scotland takes some beating IMO. Then weve got Cumbria, Yorkshire, devon and Cornwall, Wales and Ireland..I could go on and on. Even in Essex there is some wonderful countryside. These little isles of ours have so much to offer and I havent visited nearly enough of it yet.
Camper van? My late wife always wanted one.xx
-
Had a couple friends who lived in Holmfirth years ago....sadly, they split up, haven't heard from them in years n years.....that's where Last of the Summer Wine was filmed.
-
It is. There's an old bus-type thingy that goes on trips ....... it's a bit open plan though :D
We lived in various parts of the UK and I could sell it to anyone ;)
-
I wouldn't want a close up of my face full stop! TC....😂
My OH puts a picture of me on the front door when it's Halloween, just to keep the kids away. 😂🤣😂🤣
-
Now there's an idea :D .........
I love our country. I love the seasons. I love the scenery ........... I wish it were all a bit closer so I didn't have to travel that far though ;D
-
Teresa. Sense of humour is great to share on here. I thought mine had up and left me til recently.
Can I just say as someone whose anxiety stopped me flying for many years the flight to Italy isnt a lot longer than Scotland so how did you get on with your recent flight to Scotland?
Teresa Also. Dont feel you have to answer and if you do dont give specifics but I'm intrigued by the "actress" in you. I havent said it on here before but i feel like sharing and I am in the entertainment industry. Im not famous or a anything but it has been my job for best part of my working life until my late wife became ill 5 years ago.
X
-
Teresa. That's amazing I have been singing all my life as my dad is a professional performer. When I was younger I did it as a sideline but then in my twenties i got into it full time so from then on it has been my job. I havent worked since my late wife becane terminally ill 5 years ago and I cared for her and then she passed away
So lovely to hear of your many productions. Funnily enough my bereavement counsellor suggested I get back in the swing with am dram and I know I would love it. . But my confidence has taken such a dent with meno.
The summer school you mentioned. I wonder if it's available in my area. Maybe you could PM me with details dont worry if you cant.
And flying? I so get it I start panicking days before. It ramps up the nearer the airport and then the nearer the plane I would rather walk out to the plane and up the steps. That fricking tunnel that leads to the plane...I hate it. I once stood on the threshold having a panic attack and the stewardess at the door who normally smiles at you kindly and says "welcome" grabbed me and unceremoniusly dragged me aboard. !!
Xxx
-
Teresa. I ve just seen it. Thank you so much x
-
TC....if we all EVER get the chance to meet up, at least now we've our entertainment sorted.
We'll get you to belt out a song! .........sorted! 😁
-
We already have a menopause choir and a charabanc to get us places ;)
I was OK on stage years ago but wouldn't consider singing etc. now :o
-
Certainly I couldn't remember words etc. these days ::)
-
The worst is when you hear the first bars and your brain is saying "what the eff is this. I dont know how it starts" its sheer panic.you feel like saying "everybody stop looking at me now!!"
Teresa are you rehearsing at the moment?
Rehearsing with a band can be a real bore but I imagine rehearsing with a theatre company is way more fun, although hard work.
.
Dusty Springfield who is a big musical heroine of mine apparently used to write words on her hand and when you saw her doing her famous move of stretching her palm out in front and bringing it down in front of her face she actually was having a sneaky peek. Probably a myth. But I like it :)
I love the idea of the meno choir travelling aroundc n the charabanc.(what a great word CLKD). It's a documentary waiting to happen!!
Xxx
-
Bit like the 'stars' walking to Rome ???
-
There is a wonderful outdoor concert space in Rome. I cant remember the name. It's near the Colosseum and it's set in the most beautiful gardens.x
-
Sounds great Teresa. Character parts are the most interesting. I would imagine you can realy put your own interpretation into it. Xxx
-
Just had to bump the thread. Rhona"s menopause. She went to the doc.after a very short time from her op I might add, but that's soap. Shes got terrible Anxiety. Cant sleep. And shes on HRT. Doc said Menopause " bit her like a train after surgical meno and ir will take time to get the dose right" . She said her brain feels like soup.and wakes up in a pool of sweat every night. Doc said "thee is no shame in asking for help" she said shes angry with everyone. Doc said "dont worry you dont have to carry on like this we will do everything we can to makes it better." It later transpired shes got 'new pills" which "after a few weeks should make everything right.".
For those who are going to say to me "it's only a soap ". These soaps pride themselves on "getting things right" when they tackle issues.and they brag about it all the time
So....CLKD can you fire up the charabanc. Were all on the bus to emmerdale to see the doc with all the understanding and all the promises and ready medication and get the "new pill" which will make everything o.k. o.k?!
Maybe nott. As uusual their pride in "portraying the truth" deserves to be shot down. and their understanding of it as off as it has been with every 'issue" they have ever decided to plunder in the name of entertainment.
.
Btw. The ad for replens straight after the episode made me want to kick my effing telly in!!!
Grrrrrrrr
-
:beat: :bang: :stupid:
New pills, ..count me in......😁
-
Yeah ... what are these magic pills ?
-
Yeah.Just highlighted the anger issue as if that's the most important thing. I'm absolutely fuming. I'm gonna find the producer and rip his or her, balls off. I'm gonna chuck my telly off my balcony and throw what remains of my plates and cups out the window . If I had a husband I'd lob a shoe at his head. my God I'm so angry. What's wrong with me?
-
Erm ... you've had your ovaries removed ? ** ducks behind sofa to avoid flying kitchen utensils **
Love you :-*
-
Love you too but leave my ovaries out of this or I will have to hurt you.
Only kidding of course. I dont have a y utensils left to throw!!!
Xx
-
It's OK Tc, I remain hiding behind the sofa. And I've just popped my old horse riding hat on for extra protection.
I still want to know what these magic pills are though. :-*
-
[ creeps in] ..........They're going to be that magical that Rhona gets pregnant,
with Paddy's baby, and just as she's giving birth, they announce oh no,🙀🙀 it's triplets!
Who knew? 😂🤣
Then she goes down in the Guinness book of records for the only woman on this planet to conceive AFTER a hysterectomy!
Thinking about it,.....🤔 NO, I don't want em! 🤣😂🤣
Have you calmed down now TC.....I've retrieved HRH Pants from behind the sofa....where she's put that hat, is anyone's guess! Bet she's been peeing in it! 🤣😂🤣😂
-
Is it safe to come out yet ? I've been behind the sofa all this time, and I've done more than pee in my hat ;D
