You wouldn't think horses have those kinds of tendencies but my old horse was brilliant, I loved him so much,he was with me through teenage years, split ups, pregnancy and all sorts. I rode him one day along the back tracks, was about a 10 mile round trip,we were just about home and the farmer was burning his field, very thick smoke blowing, needless to say right across our path,I nudged my horse gently with my heel but he was scared and started reversing,I squeezed him to urge him on but he started to plunge and tried to turn but we would've had to go miles back to get home and it was getting dark,so I jumped off him, soothed him and said, come on boy,it's ok,we'll get through and he followed me,like he really trusted me, I was so proud of him,he was a very wise old man,I miss him so much ☹️😢
