Title: Urgent Q about the Mirena
Post by: AngsanaBlossom on February 06, 2019, 03:05:12 PM
I cannot get hold of my GP due to some technical issues. Tomorrow I am having a Mirena fitted on the NHS. I am also on day 8 of taking Utrogeston as part of my HRT cycle.

My Q is, do I continue with the Utrogeston capsules till the end of the cycle (about 2 more days I think off top of my head) or leave it since I will have the Mirena as of tomorrow?

If it's only a couple of days why not finish? However if the Mirena starts to give out prog from the first moment of insertion then it would be OK to stop. Good luck with the Mirena and hope all goes well.

When I had my Mirena fitted 20 months ago, I was on the the POP Noriday and I was told to continue for 5 days, and I had it fitted day 6 of my period.
Not sure what the difference is in dosage of Levonorgestrel in pill and the utrogeston.
I was told the Mirena takes 5-7 days to start working!!
Interesting to now hear it starts immediately!
