Hi, I was put on HRT when I started to have menopausal symptoms last year. I was getting hot flushes and feeling tearful all the time. I wasn't fully menopausal because it hadn't been a year since my last period, only 10 months. My doctor put me on the tablet version of HRT and told me my periods would come back. I thought this was a fair trade-off. However, never having had a problem with periods in all my life, I am now experiencing the heaviest, longest, most painful ones ever. I struggle to go out, let alone go to work. Has anyone out there ever had the same thing happen to them? What advice would you give me?

Sorry that no one has answered you :o.
Heavy painful periods are 'common' as ladies go through The Change. Your GP can prescribe medication which will ease symptoms.

Hi Polly X...it's probably the type of progesterone in the hrt which is causing this. x

Hi Polly. Sorry you are having these period problems. As has been said it's probably the progesterone. Which type of HRT are you taking and how long have you been on it?
