Hi ladies
I have been on 1/10 femoston for 5 weeks now. The first couple of weeks I felt really good. The progesterone part was ok but I did start to feel awful towards the end of the two weeks. I am actually Post Menopause by 1 year so I'm not sure if this is the right HRT for me. The progesterone is 10mg where other HRTs are a lot lower. I have also had an Endometriun Ablation where my womb lining is only 2mm thick. I was wondering if I could just take the progesterone tablet for only 7 days or should I switch to femoston Conti. I do get a lot of leg cramps and my energy levels have dropped. I would like to a patch again but Evorel Conti wasn't suitable and I have just read about the Femseven being discontinued. I'm just wondering if I will start to feel any better on these. Thankyou for any advice. 😃

Hi there jancis - unfortunately your post got missed during the Christmas mayhem! I hope you're feeling better now? If you prefer to take Femoston conti as you are post-menopause then that is generally recommended. However often best to start with a cyclical HRT so you can see how you feel on the oestrogen only part compared to both hormones. If you feel fine on all of it then maybe switch to conti - but sounds like the prog part ( combi tabs) might not agree with you?
re the ablation - perhaps see how or whether you bleed when taking the Femoston at the required amount ( ie the 12-14 days of combi pills). if you get no bleed at all then discuss with your doc whrether you can in fact take less as there will be less build up of womb lining due to your ablation and thin lining - at least initially?
Re doses of progesterone - it is not possible to compare doses between the different preparations because they are dosed differently according to the mode of delivery ( oral or transdermal) and also according to their effectiveness in protecting the endometrium. They also last for different lengths of time in the body.
I would try this one for 3 mpnths - the recommended time - and then revisit how you feel once your body has settled into the HRT?
