...but my account did anyway. However, back now adn Admin have kindly attributed all my posts. :)
Ladddiessss, my reason for coming on here today. I spoke with my breast surgeon this week regarding the HRT issue - I can ONLY have hrt if I have tamoxifen again ! (That was an immediate no, as those of you who know my back story will understand I was only on it for 6 weeks anyway) So, that was the end of that conversation. I am now over 2 1/2 years post-diagnosis and have now been discharged from the breast clinic.
So, periods - another reassurance question as is my usual pattern. ::) Last period came at 55/56 days which was my longest gap, it lasted ummmm 12 days maybe, but the last week of that was very light spotting. Today is day 21 (so only 8/9 days after my spotting stopped) and I'm spotting yet again. In the interviewing 9 days between the two there was absolutely nothing. Is this also something that can happen ? I know, I know, I know it can be erratic but I still get so stressed and upset by it all and you guys are my life-line.

Hi 😊 there is a brilliant new book out called “ oestrogen matters†by a top US oncologist for breast cancer.
I advise you to read it and then make an informed decision, re BC , Tamoxifen, HRT amongst other things.

Tamoxifen almost killed me.
Glad to see you back and that you have had 'that' conversation. Did the Consultant give a valid reason or was it a 'no' without discussion?
What cover would Tamoxifen give anyway? If the body is already low in oestrogen as we are led to believe during the change, and the drug supposedly lowers oestrogen :-\
Read that book as suggested then let us know ;)

Almost killed me too :( You've told me about that a few times on threads.

I explained the awful late peri-meno issues, in detail, and asked about HRT. She said - oh you can have it, as long as you start tamoxifen! That was the statement.
I asked exactly what you pointed out in the quote I've put above.....she said 'your body makes oesterogen in other ways and its more complicated than that, aging cells etc'. LOL There is NO WAY a tamoxifen tablet is entering my mouth again, period (excuse pun). Also, they say the first 2 years are most critical, and I'm over that point in time. I will look at the book, should be on Amazon, but to be honest its all very well making your own 'informed choice', but if nobody will precribe anything then you are up poo creek. Is this the same guy who did the interview on woman's hour?
CAn anyone help with the period query also?

Don't know about the periods.
I wonder how medics would feel it if where them with menopausal symptoms as well as breast treatment? Quality of Life is important as we know. :bighug: They are so set in their ways!
I was told that I needed to take that blasted drug for 5 years ........... then stop. I couldn't see the point actually and didn't think to ask questions.

Don't know about the periods.
Oh ok, maybe someone will know if this is a normal peri thing. :'( Feeling very tearful about it all today...
I was told 10 years......its moved on from 5 !!!

BTW the book is a positive not a negative regards using HRT after BC. His own wife & daughter have both had BC & both take HRT.

Yes, its the same guy that did the interview then......listened to that one. Thanks everso for thinking of me. I knew he was positive about it :)

I can scan you a copy of the relevant chapter when I get home. Just send me a private message with your email. Thought I had already sent it you but must be thinking of someone else.

Oh my gosh, yes, you DID !!!! I'd forgotten that at the bottom of my inbox !!!

I'm more concerned right now about knowing that my period oddities are part of the 'normal' peri process for some.
OKayyy, nobody able to reassure. Ces la vie. Sorry to say, but this place seems to be literally all about HRT, and there is nobody out of over 200 views who can share their period experiences with me going through this naturally. I need to find another place to here I think.

Much thanks to those one or two members who have given me support by PM, you have made such a difference to me. :)

You could visit a Pharmacy local to you with your query. He/She can then contact the product manufacturors and ask the question on your behalf. Ours is very useful!
