Title: 84 Year Old Woman has Natural Period According to GP.
Post by: Kathleen on November 06, 2018, 07:18:22 PM
Hello ladies.

True story!

Earlier today a GP told my friend about an 84 year old patient who presented with menstrual pains and bleeding forty years after her last period. She was sent to hospital for investigations but nothing was found and it was thought that she had ovulated which resulted in a period. The GP said that although rare this can happen because the ovaries will always try to release any remaining eggs. I have mentioned before that a gynecologist told another friend of mine that for most women their ovaries are still active into their seventies.

I know a lot of us suspect that we  have a cycle even when post meno and it would seem that our ovaries are still capable of  doing their thing into old age!  What a thought!

Wishing everyone well and take care.

K.
