Title: Smear tests
Post by: Tinkerbell on November 03, 2018, 01:05:08 AM
I have just had a letter about booking my smear test, as I am now 55, does that mean my last one will be when I am 60 even though they screen up to 64?

It shouldn't be. They've started the 5 year nonsense here in Australia too (only until age 70) - I intend to keep having one every two years, as I had precancerous cells removed when I was 23. Ask your doctor for advice, but if you're happy for every 5 years, then have another at 65 - insist on it if you must (even if you have to make up a few symptoms, lol)

I had one earlier this year and I'm 60.  Think it goes up to 65 in the UK.

The last one is 64 but every five years so if you have one at 60 that's your last one. It was mine.
