Too late me thinks :'( and why didn't the medical profession check the ins and outs B4 jumping on the thou-shalt-not-have bandwagon? Shouldn't GPs have taken more responsibility ..............

Still not any reassurance on safety for over 60's though.

only if you don't start until post 60. Ok if you start younger and then continue. I now hope to do so while I can but will have to persuade the GP.

Katejo, can you explain about not starting hrt till post 60 and possible dangers? I haven't heard about this. I started Tibolone about a year before my 60th birthday and 18 months later had bleeding, biopsy etc. It's been the most stressful 3 months but thankfully in the clear. I was off all hrt for 3 months and now using local cream, ovestin, for VA. I am too scared to go on any other hrt now as I don't want to go through it all again. Is there a connection with me starting hrt so late as I had none before the Tibolone?

Hi suzysunday Obviously I am not an expert by any means. I am just referring to the conclusions in the book chapters. However this is repeated many times. In the chapters which discuss the benefits of HRT re. bone health, heart health, protection against Alzheimer's, it says that the studies undertaken show that women who start HRT when under 60 (or within 10 years of reaching menopause) benefit far more. HRT won't help someone who is already showing signs of dementia or has had heart problems for example. I haven't yet read the chapter which discusses cancer risks in detail but I think he will say that cancer sufferers can take oestrogen. If you send me a private email, I could scan you a short extract as an example. Each chapter looks at a different health issue and provides a convenient shorter summary of the main points at the end.

Thanks. Where do I locate where I send private email?

Look for the 'my messages' option near to the top of the screen on the left . I tried to snip an image of it but it won't let me paste it here.
