Hi All,
Continuing to go round the loop of this hormone madness again.... !!!!
Was on 2 pumps of Estrogel for about 8 weeks, along with 25 mg Progesterone cream, suffering from tender breasts, no enthusiasm, depression, anxiety, jittery, dark moods and thoughts...
Tried a bio-identical hormone specialists, took blood test, came back at 1245 pmol/l , said that was too high so reduced and gave me some bio-identical hormone cream...
Since then been down to 165 pmol/l .
Currently on 0.6 mg Estradiol per day and 10 mg progesterone, last tests came back at 301 pmol/l.
Now at 301pmol/l Still suffering from depression, dark thoughts, jittering, involuntary head shaking (like having a fit), breast have stopped hurting
Whenever i make a change, might have a couple of better days... then goes back downhill
Do i need to have my Estradiol level higher ?? They don't want to increase my Estradiol level...as there pretty much baffled as what to do next
Not sure where to turn or go next whether to increase or decrease
Big hugs to all
Yx

Progesterone creams are not licensed so won't necessarily protect your womb lining - do make sure you are using a proper progesterone. Utrogestan is a licensed bio identical progesterone that many find good if used sequentially - so just 12 days each month and use this vaginally to minimise systemic absorption - this will mean a monthly bleed but involves less progesterone absorption and therefore better for mood related problems. Are you having blood tests to check hormone levels or are these saliva tests?
If you are peri meno then the oestrogen levels will fluctuate.
Did you suffer with low mood and anxiety before meno started?
Are your flushes and night sweats under control?
Hrt alone won't solve everything - it tends to be a range of strategies that will calm everything down - so good diet and exercise plus doing relaxation techniques to help control the anxiety. I'm afraid some women do need an AD/SSRI alongside hrt to really get things sorted.
HRT can't fix everything. DG x
