Title: Kidney ultrasound with HRT patch
Post by: ali 61 on October 03, 2018, 05:23:49 PM
Just a quick question. I have had 4mm kidney stones for 3 years now. I have to have annual ultrasounds, just to check how they are progressing. (They only operate when they reach 6mm)

My exam is on Friday at 4pm. However it suddenly occurred to me that this time I shall have an HRT patch on my tummy.

Has anybody else had an ultrasound whilst using a patch. Should I remove it before I go for the scan, or can I leave it on? (I am due to change it at 8pm on Friday evening.)

Depending on how much of the the abdomen they decide to scan, as you probably know they apply a gel to your skin and run the probe over your skin. If they do scan your front abdomen as well as the side/back they may or may not need the patch removed to assist with smooth running of the probe. If they do then you can take it off there and then - after all it will only be off for a short time. By the way the exact time for application is not crucial! Don't worry about it and good luck with your scan.
