Hi there,
I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this odd symptom.
I raised my Estrogel from 2 pumps to 3 pumps because I thought it may improve my mood which has been a bit flat recently but since then I have been having constant muscular pain in both shoulders. It's quite severe.
The muscles across both my shoulders feel hard and ache tremendously. As I mentioned this has only happened since raising my Estrogel dosage from 2 pumps a day to 3 pumps.
I will lower back down to 2 pumps tomorrow and I'm hoping that will solve the problem.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this strange side effect though?

Let us know! Lack of oestrogen can cause laxity of muscles and frozen shoulder.

Hi CLKD,
Yes I think it's an odd one because I thought the muscle pain would come with a lack of estrogen but my levels on 3 pumps was not lacking at all? I had a level around 700 pmols.
I just wonder whether my body just needs less estrogen.
So I'll let you know if reducing to 2 pumps a day resolves the issue.

Would you be better with an extra pump i.e. twice a week?

I read on another thread that another lady (maybe Rosti?) had bad pain in shoulder from estrogel but that's where she was actually applying it. It does seem to be very much a "Goldilocks" hormone - my allergies were bad when i was just using progesterone cream and went away when I added a biest cream (80/20 estriol/estradiol), but since I've been on estrogel which is much stronger they've gone through the roof! So it could be that all sorts of symptoms are alleviated by a small amount but made worse by too much... :-\

Hey Josemum,
When I started using the Estrogel I had really achey shoulders and was a little concerned because most of the people I work with suffer from RSI, as have I, but then I started rubbing it into my thighs and fortunately those don't ache at all. No more problems with my shoulders at all.
This last week I have actually been upping the Estrogel to 3.5 pumps cause I would really like to drop the 10mg of citalopram I'm on as I do notice my mind isn't as sharp. It just takes that much longer to process facts. Iv come to realise if I change my hormones at all I just need to do it really gradually as I get horrible depression (you may be fine and not notice) but goodness this is all a steep learning curve.
Good luck and hope your shoulder pain resolves xx
3.5 pumps Estrogel and
Pea sized testogel daily
At the moment 10 mg citalopram every other day
