Title: Help
Post by: V29boo on August 16, 2018, 07:15:01 AM
Just need to check in, make sure I'm not going crazy😱I am however totally confused as I haven't had a period for 16 months and thought I was pretty much doing ok, and in my mind was thinking I almost had this menopause thing over and done with.......
However now the hot flushes, sweats, panic, anxiety, low mood, total loss of interest in everything (on a lot of days!!)
Emotional wreck, feeling overwherwhelmed at the least little task, just about every thing has hit me head on. Not to mention the weight gain which is really knocking my confidence.
I thought as the months passed without periods things were meant to improve, yet I feel like I'm getting worse and I'm losing myself day by day, and the future just looks bleak.
To sum things up I'm feeling old fat and miserable. Anyone else feeling the same love to hear from you 😥

Hi yes I got worse post meno. I thought things would get better once my periods stopped but I now realise that I was very naive about menopause  :(

HRT has really helped me x

Hi there - yes post menopause is a nightmare for me.  I have complete irrational anxiety which is now stopping me from going things I used to love and days of depression.  However I keep telling myself it is hormones and thus I just have to find the right treatment. Have you seen a menopause specialist? X

V29boo - who told you that things get better????? WE are all different and go through the menopause differently but how long the symptoms last and whether they actually ever subside will vary from women to women.  Oestrogen levels tend to drop and then bottom out over around 2 years after the last period, so for many women they find true menopause symptoms kick in months after their last period. The oestrogen deficiency goes on doing it's damage even if symptoms subside. Body changes, muscle loss, metabolism etc, all change with the oestrogen deficiency and one has to adjust the lifestyle accordingly.  Eating a lot less, regular exercise and relaxation techniques are essential.

HRT can work wonders to get life back on track - so do look at your options as life is short.  DG x

 :bighug:

Maybe keep a diary of symptoms/food/moods.  Read round here. Make notes.  "The Change" does what it says on the tin  >:(  ::).

After 2/3 months of diary notes decide which symptom you would like to ease first?  You may have a good Practice Nurse so make an appt.

Yup - me too! Worse post menopause (surgical). I thought i'd licked it after one year post surgery, but have a lot of what you've mentioned. I can sympathise! I'm now 3 years and counting, and had brutal flushes this summer (but then, it has been a corker)!!😮😮😮 xxxx

Hi Tempest!  Were the flushes worse due to the intense Summer weather?
