Here I go again, I thought I might have got it cracked but no.
I've been a a sequential tab for 4 or 5 months now, Climen. After two lots of conti, had withdrawal bleeds ok & not feeling to bad. Now three days into the estogen & I'm feeling like a whale & nauseous.
Due to go on holiday next week so no time for an appointment.
Any suggestions 😥. So fed up with this.
Oh & think the flushes are creeping back but not completely sure because of the weather.

So here I am thinking that it was probably the prog coursing the problem & now more likely that it's the estrogen, can't speak to the doc until Monday. So how about I reduce the estrogen by half a tab & see what happens ?

Hi Suziq99. I too think it is Estrogen that causes my stomach issues. I tried taking Estrogel for 2 weeks and then adding in the progesterone and I felt the same on both. Unfortunately, I still haven't managed to find a hrt that doesn't cause or exacerbate my gut problems and I end up stopping and starting the medication which I know isn't the thing to do. I would be interested to hear what your doc has to say. I hope your boating subsidies soon.

Do you think it's gas or fluid that's causing the bloating?
I've suffered horribly with fluid retention bloating. I've just switched to Estrogel only (for the time being) to see if that helps or not. I have been blaming the progesterone, but hope this experiment will give me some better clues.

Definitely not gas. Fluid I guess, I am hardly eating anything, although I know I need to.
Had half a estrogen tab this morning & going to try a day or two on fluids only. I normally have a good healthy appetite love my veggies. Just can't face anything 😥

Susiq99 I am the same - hardly eating anything. I read that estrogen dominance can cause bloating/water retention (mine is not gassy at all).
I have docs appointment on Monday and I want to see if I can cut my patches down to 25mg (currently on Estradot 50mg at moment but too small to cut in half).
I will let you know what he says. I will try this first then look at the progesterone side. I am also going to ask for some blood tests - I had some done prior to starting HRT and I would like to see how this has all changed following being on the regime for 3 months.
Sorry I cannot help more (in same boat) but I will let you know how ti all goes.

Hi ladies. Sorry if this is a stupid question but how can you tell if it's fluid that's causing the bloating ?
Thanks.

If your rings are harder to get on then that's a good sign of fluid retention.
High oestrogen / dominance can cause bloating (gas and water) and general inflammation.
If you think about it, oestrogen is the growth hormone that nourishes and makes things bigger (including a baby!) and progesterone is the protective hormone that calms, protects and keeps growth in check.

Thanks Dangermouse. I don't think mine's fluid then. I cannot believe how uncomfortable my stomach is all of the time. It's getting very wearing 🙁 I've suffered with IBS for years but this is off the scale and constant !

Rosie, I would go back to your GP, about your bloating . So many things we put down to menopause and IBS, but sometimes other things can be causing the problem. Have you any other symptoms, such as feeling full after a few bites of a meal, weight loss or an urge to pass urine more frequently, ( though this one in my humble opinion is a bit subjective ) I hope things settle down for you and you start to feel more comfortable but do consider having it checked out .

Sorry Evelyn, I missed your post. I've got an appointment with gp next week to talk through stomach issues. I've suffered with IBS for a number of years and have had camera up and down, although this was about 10 years ago now. I'm pretty convinced the discomfort is exacerbated by the hrt as when I take a break, my stomach is much happier. As you say though, better to get it checked out just in case.
Thanks again.
