Title: Is Tibolone ( livial) safer regarding breast cancer risks?
Post by: Emerald2017 on July 08, 2018, 09:38:10 AM
Hi ladies! I am 43 on Femoston 2/10 for a year without any side effects. My gyn said me that livial is safer for longterm use and it has a protective effect on breast. Is it right?
When I first tried Tibolone it was a disaster for me. Can I ask your opinions? Thanks! :)

I'm not sure whether there is a protective effect from breast cancer with Livial. Being on any HRT, when so young, is vital to protect your bones and heart and help prevent early onset of urogenital atrophy. Breast cancer risk doesn't really kick in until 60 and you need to be on HRT until at least 53-55. If you were doing well on Femoston then I would have stuck with that.
There is some evidence that transdermal can be slightly safer.  Maybe consider trying Utrogestan (sequi or conti) with Oestrogel or oestrogen patches -  but having a Mirena fitted and use Oestrogel or oestrogen patches alongside is a good non bleed HRT regime - as both these options are considered more ‘breast friendly'.
